  • the worst version ever.

  • Effortless!!!!!!

  • LOL @ the MC, that was the best doggon sangin' I ever heard in my doggon life. Chaka's smile is soo beautiful.

  • Pare of pasty motherfuckers, get Chaka on,and fuck ginger minge, and holland basset off, listen to to some real vocals Jools, you fuckin clown.Ginger minge, still thinkin hes cool, what a fuckin crank, fuck off to your countrty mansion,BBC FOR YE.

  • Of all her versions of IEW this is my favorite!!!

  • You think this performance left you speechles, YOU JUST WAIT TILL YOU HEAR CHAKA KHAN SING A GOSPEL SONG!!!!!

  • After this performance what female singer would dare step foot on that stage? Barbra Streisand singing evergreen? The audience would fall asleep!!

  • Great song, amazing voice, I love you chaka khan

  • jools was absolutely amazed with her presence. it must1ve been an incredible feeling

  • FIRE!

  • Que fea mujer, parece la mujer rata, o algun otro roedor gordo salido den algun desague....que feo aspecto...la canción es buena, quedaría mejor en otra voz como la de la Bella Celine Dion

  • Every time I see a live version of Chaka performing this song, it is always different because she is a true SOUL singer. Her versatility is amazing, and she caters to her audience. There will never be another Icon like her. Chaka-Fan-4-Life!

  • We must remember ... this song was written FOR CHAKA KHAN by the greatest husband and wife songwriting team Ashford & Simpson. Sorry Whitney ...

  • @rkb57 Aint no need to be sorry. Cissy sang background on the original Chaka Khan recording, so the connection was already there before Whitney covered it, with Chaka's blessing. Also Whitney's cover was IMO one of the finest dance tracks of the 90's.

  • Chaka just keeps getting better & better .... voice and looks!

  • Love 2:30 when she let's it go, Jools Holland's face says it all. Awesome! Thanks for posting.

  • I'm not comparing Whitney and Chaka's versions. I love them both. But Chaka can still sing this...... Whitney..well...um...

  • Marvelous... Simply Marvelous!!!!

  • i always thought she had weird hair choices

  • There is only 1 Chaka Khan, she is unique and she still got it going on today vocally, whitney's version is cool but it cant compare to Chaka's original, whitney got a good voice but Chaka can out-sing whitney any day, no 1 sings like the CHAKA, love u Ms KHAN...

  • @EgYpTgIrL22 Actually on a video interview I can no longer find on YT Whitney claims Chaka as her major influence next her mother Cissy!!! Chaka is a contralto that sings in a soprano range thusly covering all ranges in between with a vocal agility rarely matched or surpassed!!! Think of a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Or Mercedes Benz Maybach moving & cornering like a Lamborghini Gallardoor Ferrari 599 GTO !!! Heavy as hell but moving as if light as a feather & still grounded by plenty weight!!!

  • @TyjaluvsChaka Sorry typing so fast I meant say Gallardo!!!

  • there are 3 old school divas who still got the voice -patti labelle, donna summer and chaka khan!

  • @mypuss77 NUFF SAID!

  • All due respect to Whitney Ya'll need to quit comparing her version to Chakas!

There is no comparison-Thus far Chaka has the "Definitive Version"!

On The "I've Got It" Bridge Chaka's voice has bottom mammy while she soars over that bridge with notes to spare!

Whitney's voice beautiful & strong as it was,was too light in the ass !

Like the Late Great Arif Mardin said"This was an exercise in vocalising while danceable at the same time!

The demo from A&S sounded nothing like this!

  • how many octaves does she.... i mean she goes from.....and she was singinging it full bore! patti labelle the only other lady next to chaka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dave Swift and Gilson are actually mint on this.

  • A surprisingly great band!

  • DAMN her voice is unmatched. AMAZING.

  • Comment removed

  • Your information is wrong about Whitney & Cissy Houston singing background on Chaka's solo debut. Whitney didn't sing background for Chaka until 1980 on her "Naughty" album.

Check the original album liner notes, not Wikipedia...LOL!

  • I have removed my post although I found several non-wiki references to Whitney singing background prior to 1980. Thanks for the info. Wish I had my original albums which were lost in a move!

  • she;s a really a proficient singer..the crowd is like fanatical though...

  • how EFFORTLESS was Chaka at that infamous song bridge!!!!

  • wait . . .they def. took out a complete stanza? of the song the part that has "of confusion in your mind". . . oh well still great.

  • I love how the band start playing the song as she is walking down the stairs and she just gets up there and starts singing very smooth.

  • Wow, look at that UK audience they could drink Chaka's bathwater. Just seeing the love that they are giving to her makes you realize why everyone LOVES performing there. They make you feel it....

  • Chaka hit EVERY NOTE and then some!!!!

  • this is one of the versions that shows why Chaka is the greatest at her own songs!!! nobody could topple this!!!!

  • paddeyOmalley,

There you go again taking a dig at Whitney.

You have to be Chaka's biggest fan hands down.

    Have you ever met her?

  • lol im just sayin that nobody could topple this live version,,,its just incredible, spot on and effortless..any arguments on that?

  • paddey, as chaka fans i have to say that we are spoiled...very spoiled due to the fact that we get to hear the bridge to this song sung live 9.9 times out of 10.

  • It is SOOO funny to see that big ol' man singing I'm every woman!

  • watch?v=xiFg_ZlCiPw

  • Signature Chaka!!!

  • lol the drummer looked like Jeremy Clarkson from top gear

  • Thats Gilson!

  • Man, I've been waiting to hear Chaka sing "I'm every woman" like this for the past 15 years or more. I absolutely loved it!!! Now I understand why I've waited so long, she's always singing it with somebody. And every woman can't sing "I'm every woman". Feel me?

  • i think this is Chaka's best live vocals for "im every woman"

  • I think the best performance of this song was on Divas Duets 2003 when she did all those incomprable notes, riffs and runs. It was amazing. Also I loved the one on her Chaka Khan Greatest Hits Live 2008 CD and DVD

  • all of em are distinctively great!! in this UK version, she hit every note, especially that grand note with crazy precision and agility!! just listen to those riffs towards the end!! AWESOME!!! and i also love the version with Ledisi, she sounded super sharp, precise and mad funky there!! ahhh i can't choose lol!! can i have em all lol

  • NORTH SEA JAZZ is my fav where at the end CHAKA-TSUNAMI lets the crowd have it!

  • @paddeyOmalley You took the words right off of my keyboard. I bought this single in 1978 the day it was released.

But Chaka's perfomance in the clip makes this song even better than it ever was!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What did Curtis Mayfield sue her for?

  • When CHAKA was a member of THE BABYSITTERS(69 or 70?), CURIIS clamed he had her signature on a piece of notebook paper and that made her be under-contract to his CURTOM rec label!

He calimed he didn't realize who she was until RUFUS hit it big with TELL ME SOMTHING GOOD! I'm 99.9 sure the case was tossed out of court!

  • Wow. lmao. DEAD @him tryna snatch Chaka up in 69'. i wonder how the music would have sounded.

  • iiiiii'veeeee gooootttt ittttt,,,such powerful emphasize on the phrasings there at 2:24 and beyond!!!

  • I remember watching this in the UK in the mid-90's. It was quite a poignant moment as Chaka had appeared in 1985 on The Tube which was presented by a young Jools Holland. So it shows them both back together on a show! I also went to see her in Mama I want to sing. I WORSHIP ONLY AT THE ALTAR OF CHAKA KHAN!!

  • Thankyou chakafan1 brings back alot of memories .

  • I didn't know the great Chaka Khan was so loved in the UK...The Brits have great taste m8 lol. Thanks 4 sending this to me.

  • LOVE THE AD-LIBS at 3:26 and beyond!!! such awesome vocal prowess!! Jools definitely knows what he's talking about when he says Chaka is an icon!!

  • It's so AWESOME to have someone in the UK that's willing to share!

  • Thanks Robbie!

Only doing my bit for all chakaholics, no matter what side of the pond!

  • Jools Holland & Band are off the hook! Fit CHAKA like hand-n-glove!

  • thats right!!!!!

  • ABSOLUTELY THA BOMB!!!! AWESOME!! super spot on and beyond vocals!!!!

  • I have always respected the way Chaka rises to the occasion when she is put with crummy background singers. Only a true professional can push through. I will always love "I'm every woman" nowadays it's an anthem. And my girl is the originator!!!

  • She put it down.

  • AWESOME - SO much LUV 4 CHAKA IN THE UK!

  • You're videos of Chaka in the UK are just rare and awesome! I just love her performances there! It's no wonder ChakaKhanZone-Robbie would recommend them. And once this Authority in Chaka Music recommends something, it must be worth watching. And worth watching they were indeed!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you like them.
