too bad i didnt know about your video i just took my doll to the american girl hospital in l.a and the fee is 34$ to re attach josefinas leg. not to mention the time i spent going over there plus the parking fees. as well as the 3-5 week wait, ill definatly try to use this method next time. thank you.

I really loved this tutorial. I got my Kirsten for xmas '96 and has been neglected for the past 12 years. I want to make her into a custom hybrid with polyclay to mimick a bjd so she'll be loved and I won't have to pay $600 for one from Asia. Very cool. I enjoyed your video very much. I disagree with the decision not to use the washers. The logic for using the washers is that the flanged end of the ferrule has a relatively sharp edge and the washer protects the nylon cup from being chewed up by the ferrule. The likelihood of that happening is remote, but as an engineer, I tend to fix things so they stay fixed and err on the side of caution.

Can't you do this without the brass inserts and just tie the elastic into knots? It would seem much easier and faster if you tied big tight knots.

Buy a couple of hemostats. They will clamp closed and make your restringing easier.
