I've got strep throat now, heaven knows how I got it. It feels like I'm swallowing shards of glass. I've had symptoms of swollen glands, heat ache, fever, shivers, stomach ache, and even ear ache. I've had a loss of appetite but I managed to eat half a meal once I had painkillers and my throat stopped hurting, the pain's come back now twice as worse. And I'm now on my second day :/
I have had strep throat for the last 2 days and I swear the intensity of the pain for the simple act of swallowing is unreal....its like trying to swallow red hot razors..am on Augmentin,metronidazole and panadeine for pain relief....also taking manuka honey and oral paracetemol...and still its having hardly any effect lol!
had strep throat the past week. the pain is really indescribable. cant eat, drink, even sleeping hurts cus your throat will dry up extremely fast and it will irritate the throat.
but after taking antibiotics, within 24hrous the pain will subside.
and also, honey really helps in replenishing body fluids cus water is just too painful to swallow.
I kicked this things ass back in the spring with straight salt and no water. I know it sounds crazy but sprinkle some salt in the back of your throat and leave it there for 10 seconds or how ever long you can hold it in and it will releve the pain.

@jrock99618 well, my bf got strep throat nd all he can do is spit spit spit too. he dnt wanna eat anything nd he drank way too much water, so now even if he get a litto taste of water he throws up. but da thing dat helps is put salt in water and gurgle it at da back of ur throat. it will burn nd hurt, but soon, u'll feel better :) put salt water in ur mouth nd jux lift ur head up and stare at da ceiling...it relly burns but dat's wat my bf did nd he got better :) but it took bout 3 to 4 days tho
A doctor tested me with a swab yesterday and said I was negative. Today, my GRADUATION party. I get a 9am call who says I am positive after a second test.
I've been unable to swallow since wednesday. It's now Saturday night. I want to rip my bloody tonsils out.

Also yesturday my uvula was swollen and it was HUGE ((I could likk swallow my uvula...) and my tonsils were really swollen! But they all went down! And if I don't take the antibiotic and my 2 tyonal every 6 hours my throat will be in so much pain and I'll feel likk imm dying!!!

My eight year old daughter and I both have Strep Throat right now and have been put on antibiotics for 10 days. This is our second day on the antibiotics and we are started feel just a little bit better. My Doctor put me on oxycodone for my pain because it is so so bad that the Tylenol was just not killing the pain!!
what i really hated about strep was when they tested me for it. like seriously its not that fun to have a cotton swab jabbed in the back of your throat

I don't know what I have. I've had this terrible pain in the middle of my throat for about a week now. It even hurts when I swallow liquids. If feels like I have a razor stuck in my throat. Along with this, I have a frustrating dry cough. I don't have congestion or runny nose, just the sore throat & the cough. It even even hurts badly when I cough. And I have to sing like this for my gigs. I don't have a choice. I still have bills to pay and can't miss out on my gigs. It's how I make my living.
@ammymichelle the hospital emergency room Doctor told me....... No Caffeine, No Soda, No Alcohol, lots of Juice, stay warm and lots of rest. Oh and to take my antibiotics 3 times a day for 10 days. She also put me on a pain killer to help the pain of my head, ears and throat!! And stay away from all people for the first 24 hours of being on the antibiotic. After that, you are no longer contagious!
Also, I've had cold sores on the INSIDE of my mouth before the strep throat kicked in. Ugh, I just want to have this medicine KICK THIS INFECTIONS ASS!!!!!!!!!
It hurts so much when I swallow. I can't even eat Jello!! I haven't eaten anything since yesterday. & I went to the hospital & got two injections of antibiotics, one on my arm, & one on my butt :( ugh, THIS IS WORSE THAN BREAKING MY ARM!!!!! (which I have done in the past)
@Theclaidheamhmor Yeh I'm 20 and have it now. You can actually feel swollen glands in your neck. Hurts so bad everytime I swallow I nearly want to cry. Throat spray won't help, nothing will help at all. However I took some vicodin and it stopped hurting for 6 hours, then as soon as the vicodin wears off it's right back to severe pain. But luckily I'm getting my script for penasilun in the morning.
i have had this for 4 days now but i hav'nt taken any antibiotics for it...i rubbed rock salt on to the swollen glands and i think it helped a bit as the white spots have gone but now it looks like a flesh eating virus...if i don't go to the doctors will it go away???
@OneStarOneLove yes asap, the quicker you go to the doctor the quicker you'll be back to normal, if you let it take its course, it normally leaves you in a week, then something else worst hits you and you need to see a doc for that anyway. so go asap bro

Drink a lot. I just got it yesterday and my doctor said to drink lots of water for the next 10 days. I go to this Russian store, and they sell this thing called "Keesyel", and after drinking a cup of this warm, you'll get relief immediately, but will last for 30 seconds after drinking. Just drink a lot and you'll feel relief immediately (sometimes) :)
@nkrasn11 No, water irritates it, (trust me, I've had step at least 15 times), so drink warm milk with honey or gargle with salt water. Salt gets rid of the bacteria in your throat, so that's why I gargle with it. But like I said, water irritates the skin (unless mixed with salt) Oh, and Coke works good too, as bubbles soothe your throat. Need anymore help contact me. Get lots of rest, and try to eat as little as you can. If you are starving, eat ice cream or a popsicle.
@PaulPopsicles Same here. I have it (I'm 10), I've had it at least 14 or 15 times in my life... I know how you fell I may have to get my tonsils taken out. My sister got step so many times and so bad that her tonsils were literally rotten! They had holes in them! (Yes, she did get them remove) but I would rather have pneumonia or something rather than strep! It sucks! (But it is good if you're trying to lose weight!) That's how my grandmother lost weight :P

I haven't had a meal in about 4-5 days. I'm finally starting to get better but my throat is still too sore to actually eat.
On the positive side, I've lost like 16 pounds because I haven't been able to eat ANYTHING.

I cant eat, if I do my throat and ears are on fire. Its simply frustrating. Hadnt had a decent meal in 3 days.
But best believe when this is all over, I will be the first on to wendys for a BACONATOR!

Can you help me, I suddenly got a very! sore throat, with really pounding head, stiff neck, the pain in swollowing was awful my ears hurt too, there was no cold presant although it did make me gag, it was bad for about 5 days 7 days i still have a sore throat but not as bad, and there was a big wht patch too.

Drink a lot. I just got it yesterday and my doctor said to drink lots of water for the next 10 days. I go to this Russian store, and they sell this thing called "Keesyel", and after drinking a cup of this warm, you'll get relief immediately, but will last for 30 seconds after drinking. Just drink a lot and you'll feel relief immediately (sometimes) :)

@nkrasn11 No, water irritates it, (trust me, I've had step at least 15 times), so drink warm milk with honey or gargle with salt water. Salt gets rid of the bacteria in your throat, so that's why I gargle with it. But like I said, water irritates the skin (unless mixed with salt) Oh, and Coke works good too, as bubbles soothe your throat. Need anymore help contact me. Get lots of rest, and try to eat as little as you can. If you are starving, eat ice cream or a popsicle.

@PaulPopsicles Same here. I have it (I'm 10), I've had it at least 14 or 15 times in my life... I know how you fell I may have to get my tonsils taken out. My sister got step so many times and so bad that her tonsils were literally rotten! They had holes in them! (Yes, she did get them remove) but I would rather have pneumonia or something rather than strep! It sucks! (But it is good if you're trying to lose weight!) That's how my grandmother lost weight :P
