wow a trip to spain even....most of us kids at that time were wondering where our next meal was coming from...wish i had gone to hyde grammar....sadly my parents did not know anyone important.
Probably not. I've been to film outside 15 Green Street a few months ago.
We have a plan to video the route the little boy takes on "Much Ado" including George's rear garden, which means we're going to have to knock on the front door!
Hi. A lot of that route will be pretty unrecognisable. I did spot Knott Lane in course of construction on the film. Whereabouts was the level crossing? Was it where the path takes you to Foxholes Rd/Thistley Fields? It would make sense as they would have taken the path down to the railway bridge and on to the canal tunnel.
Thanks seftonwallet. I wasn't a pupil, and I was born at the end of the fifties. However, I love nostalgia, so thanks for posting this, and especially the one from Gee Cross. I wonder if the inhabitants of 15 Green St and Dowson Rd realise their houses are on You Tube?

Just ordinary boys from a north west cotton town who passed their 11 plus, and had a great teacher in George Wain who filmed this.
The parents probably saved for months to send them on this trip.

I think this is getting a showing on "The Way We Were" on ITV Thurs 9th October 08.

Yes, that's correct. Among those interviewed is (Dr) Geoff Barnes.

Well -- I was a student at Hyde Grammar from 65-72 and remember 'cherry' Wain fondly.
