@drywallguy71 Boooooo! The guy has made a simple easy to follow instructional video that I have found very helpful. Your just cut up because your job is not that hard and most handy people will achieve a good quality finish. Thanks for the video mate!

Clean mud is your friend, when it comes to butt joints a wide knife is your friend. Do your best to get the trash out of the mud and just make your joints as wide as you can. Good luck!
I don't think so, I think it's better to put the tape on the mud that is on the the drywall and make it a wide joint, than spend the time to try and plane out a joint and not leave rolled up paper and broken crumbs from the drywall to get in the mud ( Nothing worse than trash in your mud) but if you think that's easier I guess it would work. Thanks Steve
@wichitafixit What happens if there are bits of paper and drywall crumbs in the mud? I've been doing a lot of drywalling and plastering and taping and sanding. Ugh. Am I going to have to redo a bunch of this? I am sure that some of the butt joints are not pure. Arrrrg!
Does it pay to plane butt joints down before installation? That way you would be able to treat it as a factory joint and not have to create such a large plaster covering.
Just fill the factory side with mud to make it even with the other side, then apply your tape, as you squeeze out the mud make sure you try to keep the tape even on both sides, this will make the second coat easier to apply.
Thank you, u the man

How do you finish a joint that has a butt edge and an indented edge? Just fill in the indention with mud, then treat it as a butt joint?
