Seriously, I love his shiny shoes stepping into frame 1:48. His "Allez Cuisine" is so much more dignified and diplomatic than Mark Decascos(ICA) version where he just shouts it like he's some crazy samurai. And Decascos is half Hawaiian not Japanese. Stupid ass white bread food network, always insulting my intelligence. Food Network always dubs over Morimoto on Iron Chef America as well. Yes he has an accent but if you listen he makes sense.
Watching Iron Chef French and Japanese battle- ingredient lamb, and Maroubra Boys is coming up next on DVD. Wild Saturday night in at Karen Thompson Enterprises - where fantasy meets reality :)

Tell me this is a spoof! You mean to tell me there's an asian guy in a hugh heffner smoking jacket sitting in a castle somewhere completeing his lifeling dream of assembling the worlds greatest chefs all for the sake of a tv show? Get the hell outa here! What could be more of a dumb show, this or Rachael Raye? Oh crap! They gave her a couple of free shows too! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The incredibly insane nature of the show is part of the show.
That's how he rolls. Half of the show is cooking, the other half is the sheer style of it. Anyone can do a cooking show, but to turn it into theatre takes something else.
The chairman cracks me up in the opening theme. Like specifically parts 2:00-01 and when he bites into the pepper. he does it so grandly , its hilarious.
I remember reading he was Thierry Hounges, a Brazilian chef who battled against then-Iron Chef Japanese Komei Nakamura with caviar as the theme. Hounges looked as if he was going to win (seeing as Nakamura clearly had no idea how to use caviar), but somehow Nakamura won...
I wish I was that guy, a man of such advanced an pallet and such immense wealth that I build stadiums and hire experts to try and satisfy it. To eat foods so good many would save up for months to taste every day must be outstanding.
Absolutely disagree! The music from the Food Network is TOTALLY appropriate. It was supposed to be over-the-top and was. They took it from the film Backdraft and it worked!
anyone else irked by the awkward way the chairman says allez cuisine (alrup kwaseem)....this show had many seasons..and many episodes within those seasons; you'd think he'd get it right by now considering how much this show represents french cuisine.
Actually, the operatic theme that plays when the Iron Chefs "Ascend to their rightful place" is from a soundtrack by James Horner to a movie called Glory. The theme song, as the commenter above has noted, is from Backdraft.
dude i've loved this friggin show, especially the intro. Notice how he giggles as the camera zooms out of him after eating the capsicum? they must have forgot to remove a blooper. he is so melodramatic it's funny.
Does any notice that when the Chairman Kaga bites into the yellow bell pepper that he wants to spit it out but is forced to smile and then he kinda wants to toss his cookies as the camera panes away?
In Latin america this show is aired by Sony Entertainment television, i see this show but with a different music that the one heard in this video. If the one i hear here in latin america is the original then i think it's better than the one on the video.
I hate it when in the US they replaced the original soundtrack for some other (like they did in DragonBall Z and probably every other anime)
"You tell me what you eat, and I'll tell you what you are." I love that quote and this is by far the greatest cooking show ever. The original Iron Chef is much better than the American version.
