@crpederson In this piece there wasn't necessarily any dampening. But in the case of dampening a glockenspiel, you would typically want to dampen with your hands/forearms.
Awesome. Thanks for having the BALLS to post such an artistic piece on Utube. S.S.S. is one of the best composers of this age and is still writing wonderful music and philosphy. There are so many great pieces, articles and poems by this composer and it is a SHAME that he is not better known. Stuart Saunders Smith is a true American treasure. Again, thank you and keep up the great work!
Hey Beran...Emory here. I can't agree more. S.S.S. is an american treasure to say the least. We've been playing a lot of his music at LSU! I miss all you guys...hope you're having a great semester!...and a note to the performer...thank you for taking the time to learn such a wonderful piece. Smith's music needs more exposure, so let's make it known. Great performance!
Hey Emory, Long time, no see. Hope all is well as LSU. I was hoping to see you at MMF. Anyway, I'd like to hear any more that you've learned about De Lio's music.
I definitely agree.. I'm going to be posting a video of me performing Two Lights in competition at the end of February.. Very challenging piece. Another composer that comes from the same vein is John Bergamo. His theory goes much further than Saunders, in some ways.
never seen a glock played with 4 mallets. So you dampen the bars with the tips of the mallets, or your hands?

Nice performance dude...glock as a solo instrument is very unexplored, so thanks for posting this one.

That was great. I don't know much about this music, but watching your handwork was almost just as entertaining as the music. I'm proud...
