caught one yesterday on crosshill loch, campbeltown, never tried lochawe, do you need a permit and wheres the best place to go cause i'll be hopefully trying loch awe & loch lomond this summer

unfortunately a permit is, or at least was £5 that was school bay at Eredine good fish to be had up to 25lb but tends to be over fished

Thats no the Ederline mate,its bombed noo anyway,Cormorants have decimated the roach and most of the pike are damaged wi' Noddies bad handling etc ......still some cracking Perch though,3 lb plus,very hard to catch [thank God!]

you can get a permit at fynne tackle in lochgilphead or in loch awe village if ur at the cruachan end of loch awe.tight lines:)

I wish people would stop blubbering about unhooking mats for fucks sake. If you've got some wet grass and/or fairly soft ground and you get the fish unhooked as quickly and carefully as possible, you cause far less stress than if you're arsing about half way up the bank with a big fuck off mat. Actually if you can grab the trace and unhook the bastard in the water! How do you think people managed before unhooking mats you tit?!

Before commercially available mats, many of us 'serious' Pike Anglers made our own, i've been using mats since 1982.
