lovely top tenors, super drums(would a real drummer be quite so inventive?), nice solo, great bass. so, super ingredients but not at all keen on the recipe, lacking the imagination of a great arranger. sounds like some sixth-formers harmonising a tune for house song-but super performance

In contemporary a cappella, a lot of the time, you'll see the bass (to imitate the sound of a bass guitar) put the microphone to his nose because of the way the bass sound is achieved. As such, the sound is carried by the air traveling through your nose, and by keeping the microphone there, you maximize the sound.
As an example... try humming anything for a few seconds, then pinch your nose. See what happens.
