Kirk was excellent as Clark/Supes. He later turned down the television role that the late George Reeves got. Although so many of us enjoyed watching George, I think Kirk's style of Superman was more relaxed with a sense of humor. George seemed to want to protray the comic book Superman, who was more serious natured.
@FamilyOfMan1975 Yeah, I loved George Reeves but Alyn came first and looked more like in the comics. I think Alyn looks like the Earth-2 Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths in thits interview.
What Mr.Alyn's means is..the producer:Mr.Kaztman auditioned 125 strongmen..who couldn't act and actors..who couldn't do strong man stunts or had any talents in acrobatics or dancing..before they finally choosed Mr.Kirk Alyn to play the part.
The thing I like about Kirk Alyn's Superman is he seemed to be impressed by his own powers, almost like they surprised him. He'd have this grin like he was showing off to Lois, Jimmy or Perry like, "Holy cats, did you see what I just did?"
His Clark Kent was easy going, willing to be teased and tease back, but even as Kent he punch out or tackle a bad guy, holding back some so you didn't see the super powers.
Dear Kissbee, While I enjoyed Mr.Reeves and Mr.Reeve's performances on the tv show and in the four feature films. Mr.Alyn is the first and the best of the actors to play both"Superman" and "Clark Kent". I don't care what Mr.Grossman says..Mr.Alyn did great in both parts.
Me I am a hard core Superman fan, I hate how it is all MARVEL or Batman today. Supes gets nothing. Anyway I also hate how people are like oh George Reeves was the first and always will be or Christopher Reeve was the best nobody can evr live up to him. You know that make me mad Kirk he is the orginal and will forever be. My first or second boy is going to be named Kirk Alyn because of this man
think about your kid man he's not kirk alyn -think about if he'll like this name gave to him by a fanboy father-think about him for a change and give him a name that will simbolise his identity not kirk alyn's
Met this gentleman several times while living in Orange County CA. First met him in the mid 1980's and got his autograph along with the gentleman who played Inspector Anderson.
Later, while at the OC Fair (OC CA) I was walking though and area and heard my name called out---it was Mr Alyn at his SUPERMAN display that he had there. At the time I was with the OCSD as a Reserve Deputy and he wanted to know how I was doing in the Dept. I had not seen him for 5 yrs---a very kind man.
i have real autographed pictures by this Kirk alyn ...while he was in superman ..real autographed pictures..i am a hardcore superman fan..would anyone know how much these pictures would be worth...
Kirk was very underated I think. I'd like to see a move away from this Superman Boy Scout and back to the old arrogant ball breaker madcap Superman of his original inception. Kik's Superman is ripe for some cgi work and get rid of the animation in there. Someone do it please!!! : )

I like Kirk but Chris Reeve's is the ultimate example of Superman. Personally Kirk is at the least better than George Reeve's.
