The Altariver has one of the best managed stocks of atlantic salmon in Norway. The population is healthy, and the fish is of great quiality. The real danger for atlantic salmon is not overfishing with rods in the rivers, but gill net fishing in the rivers and especially in the ocean. The large amounts of salmon farming of the coast is the biggest threat. If you catch a fish or five in a river during the summer with your fly fishing rod you can kill it for consumption with a good concience!

here in maine we also had a great salmon fishery but now we cant fish them at all cause they r on the endangered list its great to see these guys catching salmon but be warned my brothers it could be gone tomorow never take for granted a natural resource i never thought id see the day when they shut us down but it happned :(

@dazzman42 It is not jealousy it is frustration seeing what they are doing to their healthy salmon stocks it's because they are doing the same mistake that other countries have done and they will endure the same results, poor fishing handed down to their children; I feel sorry them have not been told how to sustain the stocks. Judging by the quality gear your sporting, I don't think theirs a need for 125lb's of fish hanging and possibly rotting! (0.28). One or all the fish haven't even been gutted yet. kniverench; 50 lb salmon don't exactly make for prime table fare! Show me a cooler! Show me a cleaned fish, with it's entrails removed and properly stored! This should be done ASAP! washed and rinsed in cold water! Children like you wouldn't under stand these things though! Besides, kids your age still think meat comes from the grocery store! I've caught and released my share of large salmon and can prove it can you? I've shot Moose, Deer, Black Bear, Turkey, Partridge, Ducks and Geese!

Skal ikke kritisere så voldsomt, men synes 30-40kg rundfisk totalt til røyking da må holde for en sesong. Burde ikke være nødvendig å slå i hjel alt som blir tatt opp på land, personlig synes æ ikke laksen er så spennende når den er kommet opp på land. I can only say 1 thing, fish holic you are so right. Think what a marked value the fishing in norway had if catch and relaese had been a rule. Rivers like vosso, lærdal,, tana had been world known for many more years and not destroyed. I it also caused by salmon farm, and sea lice, but think of the oppertuneties.
