This is exactly what happened to my very first XBOX many years ago. Called Microsoft at the time and they wanted me to mail it to them plus $100 to have it fixed o_0 The weird thing is this wouldnt happen with certain games but did with most. Luckily for me Gamestop just started giving out cash for systems and games. I brought it in and was lucky enough for the XBOX to work while he tested it. I got $80 for it =) Then I bought some dope! LOL

Your hard drive is broken, that is what is making that clicking noise. Go buy a new ATA hard drive, look up an article on how to put a new hard drive into an Xbox, and try again.
