i din't realize that ALW composed this beautiful Requim, what a very talented composer he is,I guess that's why Sarah married him, although sadly it didn't work out, perhaps egos collide.
singing this in one of my class recitals and in a group(The Four Divas) with 3 other girls in the christmas chorus concert can't wait :) Sarah looks stunning here!
the choir look as lazy as they sound.. i feel bad for the kid.. sarah certainly made her presence felt.. fantastic as it was, i loved it.... the poor kid was swallowed in parts. but kudos to him for duet-ing with the diva
Lots of versions to ALW's Pie Jesu, this is one of the best by both Burrowes and Brightman, drawing me into the PC monitor. Obviously a labor of love to Weber.
It must be a surreal but sublime 'Phantom of the Opera moment' to see a song you wrote, sung by a woman you mentored, loved and wrote music for. That hug at the end, plus him spinning around to watch her walk away, was very dramatic.
I'm not really a fan of Brightman in this song to be honest. i just feel that this song should be sung with a pure voice and she totally wrecks it with her vibrato.
Two trebles singing this = WOW
Sarah Brightman = nope sorry, doesn't do anything for me....
This an excellent illustration if why I prefer a youthful male treble to a mature female soprano. While I like the beautiful coloratura voice of Brightman, I do prefer that of the young boy. It seems to me that most women use excessive vibrato. While some boys let a little vibrato sneak in, it is not a dominant characteristic of the voice. Could this be the reason boys' choirs are more popular than girl's choirs? I dunno; but I speculate.
I appreciate your comments. I totally agree that the boy's soprano (or treble, if you will) sounds far superior to Brightman's "excessive vibrato." Besides that, she sounds shrill.
I think boys' choirs are more popular than girls' because boys' choirs have centuries long tradition. Still, I love the sound of a boy treble. Maybe it's the gift that it will not last. Nature's first green is gold; the longest hue to hold to quote Robert Frost.
Connor Burrowes, career ruined? I think not. As for the chorus, this was a television production and trying to get the studio techs and directors to understand musical requirements is like trying to stop an Icelandic volcano from erupting. As for Sarah's voice, she does just fine. I understand that her diction is not pure proper operatic interpretation, but so the he** what. Her performance is musical, a little schmaltzy for my taste, but still musical.
Hollywood is not to blame. Sarah is in control of Sarah. Stupid Trolls again tearing at her vocals. This song was written for Sarah and it's hers to interpret, not yours. Obviously she must know a thing or two about vocalization since her success speaks for itself. Stupid Trolls.
WTF do YOU know about anything? Your instrument - the 'saxophone' has NO comparison to the eloquence of Sarah Brightman's voice. So do us all a big favour - a HUGE favour and STFU!!!
@gebbytoo No one is making you listen to this track! If you don't like it, then all you have to do is close the browser! As for musical taste, are you making millions? Are you playing to sold out crowds everywhere you go? If not, shut the hell up!
Sara was much better in the primier of this work. Every recording of this since then has been a disapointment. She no longer seems to care about belending with here co-soloist or the chorus. She is trying to hard to be operatic. She is NOT a good operatic soprano. She should have stuck to her Broadway/London Musical style!
you can hear voice starting to become better in this video compared to the requiem mass video..it's starting to become more fuller and more forward and not so far back and thin.
Sarah is absolutely enchanting with the powerful vibrato this song demands, and the voice of any superior trained soprano singer.. if you don't appreciate her style maybe you'd be better off listening to some dizzy pop music where mixers fabricate the singing...maybe that's more your style
Brightman's voice is beautiful. And her voice is nowhere near the pure sound of a talented boy soprano because she is not a boy, she is a female soprano :P
While I still cannot stand her singing in this song, I did not mean to imply she is not a talented singer for I know she is capable of singing much better, and in fact I do enjoy some of her other work done without the excessive warbling.
the song is ruined by her vibration and the notes which she keeps making longer than needed i think the little nerdy choir boy who sings with her is better she is a good singer just more opera and sorry to drag on but it sounds like shes eating chicken pie! :( sozzy but it does xD
The 'little nerdy choir boy' is Connor Burrowes, He is still very young here...he matured into an amazing treble before his voice break. Check out his clips on youtube! :)
Sarah's voice does absolutely nothing for me. Her lips are always in the same place which disturbs me, as her "ah" and "ee" vowels are not at all pure. People will say I'm not to judge, because I haven't made it to where she is, but all I'm saying is that personally there are a lot of other people out there with far better technique and it doesn't really seem fair...
I am not sayin this to be mean. I like her voice. But NOT in this song. she's braking the song with her vibrato. And her vibrations are so wide, that it sounds like she is off tune alot!
It's a duet. But she is NOT AT ALL taking in, the boy she is singing with. She is singing solo!
Plus she is not feeling the music, she is singing off beat too many times aswell.
She should stop singing this song!
Check out Sissel Kyrkjebø singing Pie Jesu, then you'll understand. She sounds divine!
If you don't know Sarah Brightman sang the first time that song. This song was created for her, the song is like that, and Charlotte Church, she grew up and she lost her talent.
