So bubbler is a must install part for an HHO project. I Think a bubbler serves as a backfire arrester aside of knowing that your generator creates gas

this can't happen since there is no pump to drive the gas out... only electrolysis pressure... very unwise.

You can make your own flashback arrestor... it's not really that hard... but you need to test its reliability. Safety is paramount.
