Amazing song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the chance to watch them live when they played live here in Greece, twelve years ago.Beth please marry me!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song just screams "Heaven up Here" era Echo and the B-men to me. Beth's vocal timing mimics Ian McCulloch, the keyboard tone is different but the basic approach is similar and the angular guitar guitar work could be Will Sargent.
Oh, an I love it. This and everything else on Third. Yes, you will want to actually own this album. I suggest checking out this show and Coachella as well.

was at this gig ! feken great it was.(though the support act were a bit'diffrent' would have been a bit better if it wasent for all the ejits in front of me with cameras in the air!!!!!!!!!!!!(wouldn't have seen it here though!!)
What's she saying? "Thank you ... we made a mistake..."?? Could anyone "translate" for me, please? It's a shame that she keeps excusing herself for delivering such great performances (compare her words at the end of "Glory Box" at Roseland). Makes me sad to see a wonderful artist being so critical of herself and her work. But I guess that's part of her charm really, being a troubled person or at least appearing like that in public.
Almost 10 years (8/9/98) passed since I saw them at Sudoeste Festival [one of the greatest gigs I've watched]. Next week, first tour date in my town, PORTO! I'll be there again!!!
I know that I'm not the first one to notice it, but it sounds a lot like Silver Apples. Which is a great thing, because I love Portishead, and I love Silver Apples.

i really REALLY wanna commit suicide... been waiting a LONG time 4 the portishead new material... and i have to swallow this... i do understand, too many years and stuff...but it's always the same...when they grow up, they become a lot more boring... sorry but i really don't like this.

Kisses! =)
definately dig the old stuff better, but this is the better of the ATP tracks i have heard. kind of disappointing but whatever. studio recordings probably give a little more justice.
hard 2 believe its been 11 years since portishead/portishead. mp3s & ipods weren't even around back then. will any fan actually buy their stuff now that anybody with a high speed connect can get music 4 free?
I think of the sound as a tribute to the Silver Apples, rather than a rip off of... if there's anyone suited to bring back that sound, it's P-Head! I was betting they would dig out a vintage and underappreciated sound for their new material. Hope it wrks, and hypnotic xprmntl music bubbles to the surface as a result.
I am a huge Portishead fan but I have to be honest and say that I was very disapointed by this song. I hope it isnt characteristic of their new material.

Sounds so much like Silver Apples. I think that's cool though, maybe this will get more people into Silver Apples, a great and mostly ignored group.

it sounds like silver apples because its built off of "oscillations". There's a silver apples cover of this song as well. There tributes.

This is my favourite song from Third.
Beth's voice floats in the ether surrounded by the droning noise.
Love the beat.
Reminds me of something from the 60s or 70s.
Definite trip hop.
Great late night driving music.
Some of the new stuff could definitely cause seizures. LOL
