  • nice

  • When Haake is hearing music, he listens to two Songs at once.

  • he wears wrestling shoes when he drums thats so sick

  • Joey Jordinson (And dont kill me...) is a real good drummer, playing realy crazy shit, Tomas on the other hand can do everything that Joey can, but he is more unexpected and god greater knowlege. Tomas is a genius.

  • @Astrixone joey isn't that good. he just plays fast. but it suits their music, which is often fast and pretty angry, so its okay.

  • THIS MAN IS NOT HUMAN

  • he's a DJENT god drummer

  • @killedyesterday HE'S THE DJENT IN PERSON

  • @ZoeFlux: Not any more. Link to the whole jam is this link: nilamedia. com

  • 20 lars ulrich fans hate this guy..

  • I swear Haake is just programmed in binary before each set...SO FUCKING PRECISE!

  • One of the best tuned drums in the metal scene! Also his skills... sick

  • @worldmax1

Doesn't hurt to play $20,000 Sonor's either......but he is AWESOME!!!

  • shot*/shotgun*

  • this tuning even makes my balls hard

  • Comment removed

  • @zeppelinman4232

    i know lol

  • That bass tone is org/eargasmic!

  • Tomas Haake is an amazing drummer, but also a MAGNIFICENT lyricist.

Check out the lyrics on MLWYB

  • aaah awesome! I loved it

  • Whats those shoes he`s wearing ? they look like they have extra smooth surface.

  • that would make sense, Buddy Rich and Gene Kruppa and Freddie Gruber all wear or wore dance shoes when they played drums so they could slide and boards alot easier.

  • @tku28

They look like pumas...Virgil Donati wears them too.

  • haake is more of a groove drummer than a soloist imho. the groove is where he kills.

  • lawl

  • Just because you don't like this guy doesn't give you the right to be an asshole about it.

  • wow your an asshole, seems your mad cause what, you probably have to hear that haake is a good drummer all the time and you dont agree so you came here to shit on this youtube video... just my guess... just go listen to your steve vai cd collection and let people like the music they like, no one here cares how much you think you know about drumming nearly as much as you.... im sure a lot more people would miss haake if he wasnt around than you. I see your comments on all these drum videos...

  • but...... i will agree that jarzombek is bad ass... what can i say, haakke is not a solo drummer by any means..... your still an asshole though

  • OH DUUUUUUUUDE!

I hear meshuggah for now 5 years and I can´t get enough of it.....and all musicians from meshuggah are sooooooo great...

especially tomas and of course fredrik!

    you have inspired me guys!

    GO MESHUGGAH! =)

  • My brain hurts ;_:

  • that set is beastly!

  • 1:22 omg

  • seriously sounds like jazz he is fuckin' amazing.

  • well, meshuggah does have a jazzy backround..

  • solo and...STENGAH!!!!!!!!!

    that's awesome!

  • Stengah isn't in this, dumbass.

  • Elite drummer from a elite band.

Anyone mentioning Joey Jordinson in a Haake thread should be shoot in the face with a shootgun. Stop that shit.

  • hahaha seriously

  • @NeuroHead shot you mean, and I agree with you.

  • @NeuroHead should be shoot in the face with a shootgun? that made me laugh

  • @NeuroHead shootguns ftw

  • @NeuroHead How bout Mike Portnoy or the Rev?

  • 0:58 - 1:00 painkiller intro xD

  • joey from knot sux xD

  • Actually, When drumming basically boils down to stamina, emeory, and counting. Yeah, when you think about it a drummer can suck. It becomes even more obvious that drummers can be bad when you bring into question what they can and have written for the drums.

  • yea what u just said was retarded, a typrical 12 year old ignorant, nieve, lil boy diehard joey fan

  • then act like it

  • in two words you suck

  • thanks...but uh... you dont seem to have a video of yourself up... soo

    you can go suck one

  • he doesnt suck but he got nothing to drummers like tomas haake, mike portnoy, danny carey etc

  • Everytime I watch Haake play I always remember to keep an eye on that damn high hat, hes sneaky. Hes fast as shit making his way around the kit.

  • peter wildoer is a bit more technical>>NO WAY IN HELL

  • sick. i do think peter wildoer is a bit more technical.

  • what a good job from Lövegren keeping the tempo

  • No doubt! It isn't nearly as simple as people think it is!

  • pure ownage

id like to see a crazy drum battle between tomas and danny carey

    anyone else??

  • there just as good

  • @milanpa - Not very well spoken, but true. It's not something that I believe can be compared. 2 phenomenal drummers.

@LordOf - Try searching for a particular live version of Tools "Triad" on youtube! Close enough? ;)

  • Nah I wanna see a battle between Haake and Ågren!

  • i wouldnt wanna see that cause they r both fuckin sick and i love them both

  • what bass pedals does he use? pearl elimanators or axis? help. haha

  • Comment removed

  • Axis...was confusing at first but after watching a 2nd time the beaters are on the Axis pedals =)

  • thanks man, yeah my eyes started to hurt when i was focusing on the pedals. haha. anyways thanks

  • axis

  • sonor kits are the best out there right now!

(and for jazz i gotta give it to gretsch)

    nice skillzzz!

  • Is that "Straw Pulled at Random" at the end, or is it a different one? cuz it kinda sounds lik it

    amazing skills by the way

  • I'm gonna need some new underwear. I think I just shot a 6 roper

I just wish I could be even 2/10th's as good as Haake

  • That was beautiful T. Haake !

  • underrated

  • He is elite !

  • joey jordison? never heard, Haake is a genius

  • Im not saying hes shit or anything, but hes fucking boring.

I know most of you hate Joey, but he has style behind a kit and is just amazing to watch even if hes not the best. But id like to re-enforce, I am not saying his bad...

  • Joey is a good drummer, but he simply prefers to wow the masses with fast double bass drumming (usually 32nd notes) blast beats, single stroke rolls, single stroke fours, and two on the the kick then two on the tom patterns (Portnoy style). These techniques might sound good, but they get old fast, every non-pro drummer i see now just uses these techniques over and over again. Haake's drumming is fresh, technical and original, and i would take his snare to bed anyday...

  • too true

  • I agree good comment dude. Joey is decent, but hes a crowd pleaser.

  • oh man you are so right about that snare. if that snare were a woman it would have tits the size of basketballs and an ass you could balance a cup on. i guess what im trying to say is

    tomas haake's snare > life

  • haha youre kidding right?

  • You a drummer? Try listening to Meshuggah's music like the song Bleed and see how hard it is. Slipknot? Joey? Easy crap. Covering slipknot takes talent but not as much as Haake.

  • Yeah, that's right. Joey is the most overrated drummer i know...

  • Did someone say Joey Jordison on a Thomas Haake video? damn...

  • @tomtomrulz12345 why don't you buy one of Meshuggahs CD's. Then you can here how much better he is. I believe listening to music is what is supposed to be whats going on. Joey has speed, pretty tight, but lacks originality, finesse and groove.

  • How does Haake tune his toms? I have the same heads and tom sizes but I'm fucking shit at tuning.

  • @JuIsTheLaw try researching here how to "seat" your drums, take your time, this too takes a lot of practice. I take great pride in tuning drums. gotta get each lug at the same note.

  • @KeeneDrummer I

I learned to tune my drums like that by ear when I was a kid, now i use an Evans torque key to get them in the ball park, then i will finish by ear and feel....GOOD TIP

  • danny carey, tomas haake, and mike portnoy all own

joey jordinson is nothing, hes like travis barker (more persona than drummer)

  • thank you

  • BRAHH!!

    THE FILL AT 2:30!!!

  • groove @ 2:01 is DANK!!!!!

  • are those pearl eliminators i see?!

  • they'r pearl hihat stands/cable hats, he's using axis bass pedals.

  • freaking sick. Haake is one of the best out there, and in my opinion he's among the virtuosos such as terry bozzio and danny Carey. and thanks to whoever said that portnoy isn't as fantastic as everyone thinks he is. yes he is stellar but overrated among better, less heard of drummers such as haake

  • I actually prefer Chad Wakerman or Dave Lombardo to Terry Bozzio. Terry's got a gigantic drumkit... so? And Danny Carey? Yeah I love the guy. But if there was no Tomas Haake there wouldnt even be an album called Lateralus. So yeah Tomas has long been one of the best among his peers.

  • LOVE THE SNARE

  • Tomas Haake is one of the greatest most innovative drummers of our time. Easily up there with John Bonham and Danny Carey in creativity. Not only is he a GREAT drummer but he is also the lyricist for meshuggah, and a good one too!

  • you just spoke perfectly, I love tool, zeppelin, and meshuggah, and I truly agree

  • Hell ya Man!!!

  • @drummercymbalsamples AMEN!!! me freaking too, how about some Vinney Paul up in there, and Chris Adler!!!!

  • Ok new rule, how about you have to be better than the person you're critisizing at whatever the topic is. In this case you state that mike portnoy is trash. As crazy as it may sound I'd guess that mike portnoy is probably better than you at drums, and if you reply back and say something like well I dont even playdrums faggot, than that's just even more of a reason why you shouldnt talk. Now... Haake is one badass mofo at drums for sure, clearly one of the greats. Especially his work in "Bleed"

  • but sure, I can agree to that point that Portnoy is a good drummer.

  • Haake and Portnoy are both from different leagues of drumming, Haake is a rather advanced drummer with an insane sense of poly-rhythmic masturbation, whilst Portnoy, to me, remains to be an average drummer doing better than most.

  • @Rexonius lol poly-rhythmic masturbation!!!!!! Brilliant terminology. Dont mind as i steal this.

  • thats one of the coolest bass sounds ive ever heard.

  • well if this guy "cums" on joey and makes him look like "dog shit" then what does portnoy do to this guy? excrement on his face?

  • what pisses me off is that some faggot is probobly going to compare haake to joey jordison. joeys ok, but compared to haake his is an unorganized mound of dog shit.

  • lol you're right. you can't compare jordison to haake: haake rapes him. meshuggah cums all over slipknot

  • I think most of what Joey has going for him is his speed. He is no doubt a good drummer, and maybe his sound has the capability to blossom into something more experimental and unique, but it won't happen while he's with Slipknot.

  • i dont disagree that joeys a good drummer its just that compared to haake hes is shit.

  • That is true. I'm just saying Joey's involvment in Slipknot holds him back. He has no chance to shine. He is nothing compared to, say: Haake, Blake Richardson, or former Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie, but hell: He's better than me, haha.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled oh yeah the PENNIE!!!! The "new" new guy is phenomenal too

  • crazy how you could hear all meshuggah's songs and be amazed and still not realize he can play soulful grooves like what's on here. Just goes to show it aint just this guy's foot independence that makes him awesome

  • this guy's every limb has a mind of it's own... all connected and in-sync with his brain. no other drummer is more interesting and beastly as Tomas.

  • The best.

  • Excuse me for not looking through all of the comments, and being a relative noob. Can someone explain what the four left foot pedals are used for.

    Tomas is amazing.

I am just found this video. Awesome.

  • OK, hi hat, remote hi hat (for aux hats), bass pedal, remote hi hat i think (for the stack)

  • Lawl he seems to be using a pearl pedal on his left kick and an axis on the right :P

  • Comment removed

  • how come?

  • he is in solution .45 now lets see how he goes with Christian Alvestam's multi-ranged vocals

  • lol at infuzor. spell danny carey right you tard. hes terrible? that overused tribal rhythm? what an uneducated statement. it would take you thousands of years to be able to play like danny, and even then you probably wouldnt be able to play his "overused tribal rhythm"

  • sorry fellas, listen to rosetta stoned from tool, and u will hear meshuggah influence. carrey is great, but he drew from them VERY clearly. this is about Haake, not Carrey anyway. its Time. when u explore it more, u hear how OTHER people have done it, too. Kudos to every drummer who gets past the "4 on the floor".

  • woah, his bass sounds just like an F 8 string, lol. almost no difference!!!!! who needs a bass! lol, jk.

  • nice shirt X'P

  • every time I see haake being so perfect at drumming, it gives me the strength to work hard on my studies.

Because perfection is only reachable by working very hard.

    awesome!

  • That's the way.

  • Tomas Haake is a fuckin beast!

  • I love a metal drummer who knows how to groove!

  • thats part of the reason why meshuggah is one of the best bands around right now, they're fucking HEAVY...but hold down some sweet riffage/groove

  • Holy shit dude

Shut the fuck up about both of them

They're probably Friends cuz they're both endorsed by Vic Firth and Sonor drums...They're both sweet drummers and cooler people...Plus they both understand alot of the same stuff...

  • danny carrey is terrible. all he can play is that overused tribal rhythm.

  • @Infuzor u=tard

  • Why are the sonor logos blurred out?

  • his good but i've seen better.

  • whatever! hes good? this mutha fuckr is great its obvious by yer comment u dont know shit about music or theory

  • great drummer. wow.

    bright chops

  • wow...this guy is just too fucking good.

  • Ok, so what polymeter is being played, what two time signatures are being played against each other in this? Give me details. Who knows I may be wrong.

  • Ok, I'm retarded. He is playing polymeters after two minutes. I counted it, but i still want to know what he's playing against. After he breaks off the toms what is he counting? I was listening to him as a whole with he bass player, thinking you mean the bassist was playing in one signature and him in another.

  • travisbrullz guy is a retard!!!

  • when that fucken bass comes in, gives me goosebumps, meshuggah fucken rock!

  • Tomas Haake is a phenominal human drum machine that can literally play anything. That's why he's rated as the #1 drummer in heavy metal. And to those complaining about the bass: You do realize that the bass player is Dick Lövgren of Meshuggah (the band that the Haake is from), right? He isn't playing sloppy; he's playing a typical Meshuggah riff. Listen to Meshuggah's "Organic Shadows" and then their recent stuff if you don't believe me.

  • this guy is so of!

  • whats his snare drum?

  • his snare is a 6x14 bronze made by sonor with an evans mx gold snare batter and a hazy 300 snare-side (tight tension both sices, no muffling).

  • thank you. you are quite informed!!

  • he uses a thin muffling ring

  • Travisbrulzz, do you actually know who that bass player is? Do you know Meshuggah?

  • 1. Please check what your trying to say because your grammar is very poor.

    2. The bass player is amazing. Try listening to some of meshuggahs stuff. In the context of the song they were playing he was on time.

    3. You obviously don't know a noob bass player when you see one...

  • Lol. He is playing in polymetrics, which obviously sailed way over your tiny little head.

Do you even know what that word means?

  • that's odd, because in this video He's not playing any polymeters.

  • Listen to the song medleys. 4/4 on the hands, other things on the feet. Don't you fucking dare say that's easy.

  • wtf are you talking about? I said he's not playing polymeters genius. Tomas haake is my biggest influence so I'm not degrading him. I'm just saying your wrong.

  • Some of the best bass players of all time use picks. Shut up. Just... don't talk ever again.

  • I rekon, these people must hate Slayer... Tom Araya uses a pick.

  • there were so many better bass players that use a pick to which you could have referenced

  • oh course there is, im not stupid. I was simplying using him as an example. Because most people like Slayer so yeah, you get where i was coming from. (:

  • riiiiiiiight....

and the drummer is Joey Jordinson...

  • WAHAY! axis pedals :)
