These boats plied the waters off of my hometown in Cape Breton ,Nova Scotia ,Canada. They sank a lot of ships,as far inland as Quebec City,Right up the St Lawrence river. They were a menace to all the convoys that assembled in Halifax and Sydney harbors. They were a tough breed of men indeed. They paid a heavy price for their country.
Some of this footage is of Erich Topp's boat, if I hear the narration correctly. He actually survived the war, which was a feat in itself, and captained one of the amazing new Type XXI subs near the end.

This is great. The wartime newsreels are unbelieveable. These guys were dedicated to their job and they loved their captain and Germany.

German Uboats are really fascinating, you could almost wish you would have been there.

Excellent video! U boats are probably the least speculated of the German inventions, unfortunately. Does modern Germany have submarines anymore?

We have the most modern Subs in the world, with hydrogen engines.
