Oh, I just love this so much. It's been one of my favourites since I was a little girl. My Ukrainian grandfather used to talk about how his mother would take him to a choir to see people perform it every year. So beautiful.

"Carol of the Bells" is a Christmas carol. It was composed in 1904 by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych with an English text created later by American composer Peter J. Wilhousky, who wrote lyrics entirely unrelated to the original ones. The carol is based on a folk chant known in Ukrainian as "Shchedryk". I think it's from 'Christmas at the Brooklyn Tabernacle' album, but cut in the middle, since originally after this carol there are also a few others (I Wonder as I Wander/O Come All Ye Faithful) - it's recorded not as a single song, but as a compilation.
