I stick with blackberries and now with WP7 thats the only two phones i use..Rim is trully a phone you can handle everything with a single hand and very easy.
That is the digitizer that came off. That is the actual "touch screen" of the phone. The part that is the display is the LCD, I would not touch that, it is not suppose to be touched and can actually break very easily
The whole Storm series was absolutely garbage. We've seen about a 40% return rate. Which is extremely high! The Storm II wasn't as bad, but still slow, unresponsive at times, had alot of problems with the send button not clicking (which was a problem with the physical lock on the screen). I switched to a Motorola Milestone, then to an HTC Desire and was 5146874X more happy with both those phones than I was with the Sorm II. Garbage...
@cfire600 I loved my 9530. I also love the clickable screen. I guess I'm in the minority, but the screen clicking like that allowed me to type faster than any other touchscreen. I've used an iPhone 4 for 3 weeks, and moved back to a BlackBerry Torch. It all depends on what you need your 'smartphone' to do. I live out of mail, calendar, contacts and music apps. I like the BlackBerry Torch, but rarely use the touch screen keyboard.

@jfalkingham The Torch is an awesome phone. that's kinda what most people are like with it. Keypads are usually easier to type with than touchscreen's, but touch makes the device easier to navigate with. I'm an android guy (converted from RIM) and haven't moved back. i'll never get an iPhone. haha. But ya, the Torch is a great phone. Kudos to RIM for design and style.
Free energy is finaly here! But there are very powerfull forces that want to supress the technology,Find this technology at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!
@tanman1346 I'll give you the typing part, but only marginally better. I found the send/end keys unresponsive at times answering a call, or trying to hang up. I did not see enough to justify keeping it over a Storm with OS5. WiFi is very nice, and I really would want that, but, not for a 2 year contract.
AT&T does not have the Storm. There are 2 versions of it, the 9500 and the 9530. The 9500 is GSM only and isn't very common among US providers. The 9530 is GSM + CDMA and is the Verizon version. The 9520 and 9550 are not the Storm but the Storm 2.
hahaha thats kinda awesome.lol i dropped my out of my car and it got hit my a car and still works fine just alittle scrathed and the battery stayed in place.lol
Hate to tell u this but it dosent i work for verizon and thats why u have to pay the $29.99 for the net for it the storm 2 might have wifi but the first storm dosnt
Storm 2 absolutely has wifi. You pay $29.99 for the BlackBerry Internet Service (yes, it includes all data). People get hung on the price, you are not only getting carrier provided data, but access into the RIM network for email. No other device has this type of investment on infrastructure.
Get one as cheap as you can through Verizon (if you already have Verizon) then cancel service outside of the 30 days and pay the $175 ETF. If you can get one on eBay cheaper, great. There are plenty of unlock opportunities online, and Verizon will do it too if you are a customer.
the screen is what you see-the thing your touching is the digitiser-the digitiser recognises where your touching-then when you push the actual screen you click the actual button-also its not cable's connecting your digitiser and screen into the main device circuitry they are called ribons.
*advice-its hard to get dust and fingerprint marks from inbetween the screen and digitiser-also be carefull with the 'cables (ribons)' because they break easy and you will need a repair
There are 2 components. The touch screen is just a very very thin film with sensors on it that is applied underneath the glass. like a touchpad on a laptop. Its reacting to touch. Some react to heat most react to the ability of your finger to close a circuit; capacitance. Your finger registers on the glass between the sensors then that translates to cursor movement. The storm adds in the physical button. So you can touch the screen and it works fine, but to select, correct, you need to push.
Wait a minute, Wait a minute! Why does the display say AT&T? I could understand if you would get a Google G1 from T-Mobile with no contract and take it to AT&T and have them set it to there network. But that is because the network technology is the same. You simply can't take a Verizon device that runs CDMA technology to AT&T with GSM technology. The technologies just don't line up. No matter what. The phones simply were not made to each others network properties.
The great thing about the Storm (and curve on VZW for that matter) is its ability to run not only on EVDO Rev a; but on world wide GSM bands. Unfortunately it only supports EDGE speeds for north America, but does support 3G in Europe. I prefer VZW's network when here, worldwide, I'll take the unlocked GSM route.
hey guys i dont really know what phone to get, because i really like the blackberry storm but the last 2 touchscreen phones i had were very bad. if any of u have had the verizon blackberry storm for OVER 1 MONTH plaese click reply and tell me if it is a good phone to get or if it will just be another dissapointment. THANKS!!!!!
i've had one since december 22 and i love it still to this day. the only thing is that im young (15) and for the brand new bb app store you have to sign up for paypal and being 15 i cant do that. but you can still get apps other ways. this is a great phone.its fun, but you can still message pretty quick and accurately. it has built in spell check &it automatically corrects as you type. it's a great feature, it's an all around great phone and i use it about 10 hours a day & its holding up great.
hey i personally do not have one but i have a family member that does have one and i must say its pretty good. Its a very nice phone i actually stood on one by accident and nothing happened not even the screen was damaged or scratched.
I like it but words of wisdom if you haven't had a blackberry before :
LEARN HOW TO USE IT. Not yelling, just making a point. It's not like the iPhone where you pick it up and run, there are things that you need to know first. After that it's da bomb
drop ur iphone either the back gets the shit scratched out of it and so does the screen or if u have a cover, even if rubber, it will prob have a cracked screen or the ribbon cables for the wires will teacr so it will look alright but no touch screen : /
I don't know that an iPhone is pick it up and you run. Every device has a learning curve. I think the iPhone brings the hip factor in. BlackBerry is and always will be about instant communication first. I love the Storm, its growing on me more and more everyday and I've used every BlackBerry since the 857. This is the first time I had a phone and said, hmmm, I can't wait for xxx phone to come out! Well maybe the Storm 2 (coming this year).
How do you get the sim card out without damaging the phone? Also, when I hold my storm in its upward position, it like stays in its sideways position. Do you know how to fix this?
Incorrect "mastergivanni321". If we remember correctly, it is a GSM and CDMA device. Meaning, if he is away visiting a friend, or something along those lines, and has an att account, he can easily pop in an att simcard, and it works on att.
just wonderful! i love my storm and HEARD from someone that once you drop the phone its gameover.. but now that i've seen this video i feel much better.. thanks!

i had the blackberry storm and sent it back in for the omnia...it was a big mistake...the omnia is a gretaphone but it also has some problems that are not shown to you...i wish i didn't get rid of my storm...plus with the storm you can update your phone wirelessly right through your phone...the omnia is a good choice...but the blackberry in my experience is better...any other questions leave me a message/
I liked the omnia a lot, but after using it for a day or two, it just did not stack up against the competition. Great screen, but the device left a lot to be desired.

You have to get a data plan regardless of where you purchase it from. ALL Blackberry devices require an unlimited data plan with VZW.
TheEpicenter1 2 years ago
You have to get a data plan from vzw. If you cancel after 30 days you get a $175 ETF, but that coupled with your buy price may make it worthwhile.
