Most definitely! Rick is a monster guitar player. Got to see him with both Johnny and Edgar Winter back in the day. Also check out the mighty Jon Paris on Youtube. You won't be disappointed!
Now, that was fun to watch, but I'm a little confused! That looked like an expo of some kind. If it featured guitar amp demos, then the people that attended should have known who he is. They sure look like absolute dweebs! He was having fun playing without having people hovering around him. That's why it's so much fun to watch.
Where is the "out of business" sign for those two dudes in the background? Don't they know its either disrespect, or just plain ignorant to stand behind this legend pretending to play music? What a treat to have got to witness Rick warming up his axe! Go Rick Go!!!
Wow...the man is STILL amazing. I had the pleasure of playing with Rick in a club in St. Louis around 1986 or so. We jammed for over two hours. What a highlight in my (now defunct) musical career that was. Thanks for posting!
Is that a chunk of of " mean town blues"...? This guy is an old hero of mine and one of the rock'n'roll greats. It's quite weird seeing all these scrote bags ignoring him though. Maybe he's just not "awesome" enough for today's standards? - Rick Derringer deserves a lot more respect than he's getting here.
A true guitarists guitarist. Met him in 1992 at sweet springs saloon in los osos ca. Real nice guy. In the top of the pack as far as guitar players go. Not too many people who can play like this anymore
Rick's guitar band in the 80's was way ahead of everyone else.Remember him in the 80's doin 'SITTIN BY THE MO FO POOL Rick will always be my rock guitar hero.
strange how rick didn't have a resurgence in the 80's guitar scene. perhaps he wanted to stay away from all the shitty metalheads who dominated the scene. wish he'd put something out now. even bob seger came out of retirement.
Did the camera man keep people from watching... or is it simply because people do not remember who the famed Derringer is? Thank you! I would have been in awe :0
I think it because his back was to the people passing by. He also played different runs and riffs from parts of blues and not Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo.
That was fun to watch. Rick Derringer has a gift. I hope he kept the guitar too.

I would have been at his feet pleading "Please annoint me, oh magificent blues lickster!"
I used to see him with J.W.And as well as E.W's White Trash. Nasty on the ES335.
He's a scorcher (as opposed to a 'shredder').

Sorry I just forgot to add that the SOUND coming out of that amp is gorgeous. It's pure rock'n'roll.

The guy is a legend - and seems down to earth, considering what he has probably been thru & seen.
