Aside from the effects that the code did, on comics for decades afterwards, the war on comics was most felt well into the 1970s, by those who read them. I know at least two fans who quit and gave away their collections, because they had become to "mature" for them, and seen themselves as superior to those who still read them.To be fair, comic fans were greatly denigrated and mocked.One wonders how many did just that. As many whos moms threw out their books?Im sure of that.
