These videos have been helpful as an activating strategy in my architectural drawing class. Students respond well to them and are inspired to do well in the class.
i don't need no one to approve that i am a painter or an architect, i just do it because the pleasure, of course if i depend of people's opinion i'll b + than a fool.
and of course i don't have the $ to make my projects. but still architecture is a very old ancient thing and painting too
@FranzAntonMesmer haha. That's pretty funny. and we always say to you guys just keep counting those beans and don't draw a thing. My clients will never buy a box with one 2020 window and a door. lol
because some school do not accept us. like the college of Nursing by my home town(chicago), the school only allow certain group of people into the program. It sucks!
there are actually two ways of living a life - first is a meaning, the second is a happyness. Meaning means building from your past, learing from all of your mistakes. Life of happyness is a life in the present moment, not focusing on the past and not focusing on the future. Happy life is harder.
wow you're so cool! ^o^ what university did you get into? any idea which university is the best one (in America) i should get into? i am currently studying my advanced level and advanced subsidiary level of physics, geography and maths in high school. oh bytheway, i am not American, i am Asian, i want to be an architect, you're a pro at these stuffs, i need your help! thanks. :)
Every time I start the project, some main massage is revolving in hte head. I a have such a rage desire eleborate, research some topic via space so I fgetting all multilayered structure of a project (Material divercity, social picture, ect.) So this series useful for architects to remind them about different aspects of designing.
I'm thinking of studying Architecture as a degree. I'm taking a gap year of next year. I study A level Maths, Further Maths, Computing, Physics. Now I think I'll need 3 A's to study Architecture, I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do in my gap year to further my chance of getting into University to study Architecture.
@AndyJ1992 haha mate im called andrew and i did the exact same subjects. Try and get some work experience, voluntary or paid. Im in my first year at university doin architecture and they asked for a portfolio, so just put together some sketches. I needed 3 As for my course but because i chose hard subjects they lowered my offer requirements, maybe theyll do the same for u
They gave me an unconditional offer, but other people i know doing those subjects got offers of BBB or ABB. Because you dont have any artwork in your subjects you need to make sure your portfolio is really good, then you'll be fine. Good luck with it bro
@aryanjacko Ok thanks. Hopefully I'll get decent grades. My Uncle is an architect so I'm going to ask to see his portfolio aswell when he comes back to the UK. (Currently in Dubai).
Love the series... have to disagree with the sentiment that the architect should not explain his intention. As an architect, I feel it will be my duty to explain at least the basics of my buildings, perhaps not laying everything bare but certainly sparking interest, and leaving clues and keys to the underlying idea.
I see a huge opportunity for an architect who not only builds beautiful buildings but who educates his clients about what it is that makes them beautiful.
@KJMachiavelli the problem with that is your clients are not going to give a crap about what makes them beautiful... your design should explain itself. if you designed it right, people will have no idea why they like it, they just will. that is the way you are supposed to want it.
Doug its a great theory but i still think its opnion. Your very skilled for sure but i think your veiw is just one way of looking at it . Throw out all the rules of design this is a new era. great post thanks doug
@Bluesman74460 you are an idiot. if you throw out the basic rules of design no body is going to like anything you create. i think these videos are bullshit, but the fundamental rules of design are necessary

The Postmodernism Generator is a computer program that automatically generates postmodern essays. Gramatically correct but meaningless.
Now watch a college language student reviewing a computer generated essay. He has no clue of its true origin.
A must see.
