Sort of missed the point here! This is a beautiful song about Jesus changed to glorify Satan (possibly going by another name, but same guy). If you dance in the flames you will get burnt! God bless you!
@ParaguayanTree "me good, you evil", right? Saying to a Wiccan that "you know, your God is actually Satan" is as pointless and meaningless as if I were to say to you "you know, your God is actually Satan". One of the things I like about Wicca is that we don't need to go tell other people what they believe in. Religious tolerance, anyone?
Hmmm, good point. I was working from research which I assume everyone knows without thinking it through that not everyone reads what I read. Sorry! I'm definately not claiming to be good, nor claiming that you are evil. It is not my place to judge that stuff, that's down to God. However I would suggest that you read up on the writings of Alistair Crowley and Anton La Vey to realise that "Wicca" is the same as black witchcraft. All witchcraft is warned against in the strongest terms in the Bible!
@ParaguayanTree Crowley certainly played a part in how Wicca achieved the form that it currently has - like it or not - but so far I haven't seen La Vey's influence (on how Wicca came to be what it is) mentioned in any of the academic studies. A good and sound reading on the subject is e.g. Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton, which I warmly suggest. To say that Wicca is the same as black witchcraft is an impossibility in itself - already by the 2 laws; "harm none" & "3-fold law".
Crowley is a self proclaiming Satanist, La Vey's Satanic Bible mirrors many of the teachings of Wicca. They are, many suggest, 2 sides of the same coin. "The Force" which is invoked in both "white" and "black" witchcraft is the same force, ie demonic. "Harm none" is a fine sentiment so long as you know exactly what/who you are invoking to achieve your aim. There is always a price and it is usually unbalanced. I confess to being unfamiliar with the 3-fold law so can't comment. Happy Christ mas
@ParaguayanTree so Wicca is only about Crowley & La Vey, and nothing more? With that analogy one could say that because christians have killed many people during its' history then Christianity is all about killing - the view which you have adopted is a rather B&W one IMO. But you obviously have made up your mind; Wicca is about demonic magic. I couldn't disagree more. We believe in very different things. Merry Yule.
@ParaguayanTree LaVey's Satanic Bible also closely mirrors Christianity, in fact it was deliberately written to do so. By your line of reasoning, Christianity would then also be another "side of the same coin". Or you could actually look at the tenets of each religion and evaluate them on their own merits. Your choice.
@whirlwitch Hi, the SB indeed mirrors the Bible in so much as it shows the exact opposite. It claims that "Satan" is not a real thing but just the power of libertine "freedom" in each person. The Bible however recognises Satan as a real Spiritual entity, one that stands opposed to man attaining true freedom and true power through Jesus Christ. God, by contrast, knows everything you and I have ever done and loves us the same. That's called grace, something missing in the occult. God bless!
@ParaguayanTree I don't say this in a cruel or derogatory tone, but you don't know what you are talking about. It sounds like you are making things up, with a judicious dose of lumping disconnected personalities together to make an argument that all non-Christian magik related phenomenon have any connection to Bible prohibitions. Whether the bible prohibits such practices or not, neither the Thelema, the Golden Dawn practitioners, or the Wiccans really care about the rules of your club.
@ParaguayanTree My words ran out on the last post, but I want to clarify Anton LeVey as being distinctly different from either Crowley or the Wiccans. The reason this is so is because LeVey was pointedly reactionary to Christianity. Satanism is definitely not Euro-indigenous nature magic. It is very overtly reactionary and in opposition to Christianity. In other words, without Christianity, there would not be Satanism.
@Terppa777 I don't know where people get the idea that Crowley was in any way, shape, or form related to the emergence and development of Wicca. Crowley's Thelema was more an offshoot of the Golden Dawn of Wescott and Mathers. Even then, Crowley was very individualistic, and his Magik was really not related to Gardner's revival of the Euro-indigenous nature religion that we call Wicca.
@purpleminnow Hello, you can find out more about this relation (Crowley/Gardner/Wicca) in Richard Kaczynski's book 'Perdurabo - the Life of Aleister Crowley' (Revised ed., 2010). To quote, "Gardnerian witchcraft, particularly its early forms, clearly draws heavily from Crowley. The symbolic great rite comes from OTO's VI¤ ritual; the pagan catchphrase "Perfect love and perfect trust" is drawn from "The Revival of Magick,"... (p. 543)
@purpleminnow and more from 'Perdurabo': "Gardner met Crowley through Arnold Crowther; they met four times in all; Crowley gave Gardner authority, which he valued but never used, to operate an OTO body; and Gardner was so impressed with Crowley's writings that he borrowed sections when developing the rituals for his coven." (p. 544)
@ParaguayanTree Crowley and Anton LeVey bore no relation to Wicca. simply lumping all non-Christian beliefs in one indiscriminate category shows a decided lack of understanding or consideration. Since the christian religion invented the modern concept of Satan, it is really a Christian problem, not anybody else's.
Are you for real? Patricia Crowther is your neighbor! Too cool. Is'nt she like way old now? As a joke you should put one of her books in one of your bins to see if she finds it. LOL I'd love to see the look on her face.
I swear I have heard this before... Has it been used in any movies?

Wiccan God is not Satan. This is from the ignorant and uninformed. More related to Pan , the god of merriment and celebration of life.

@ParaguayanTree That the Creator knows us intimately and loves us unconditionally is a core belief of Wicca.
