  • I would say this is the absolute worst game I've ever played. I know it's considered a classic for some reason. My guess is everyone who says that was a kid during that time, and say that because it's nostalgic to them. The graphics and music are pretty good, but the gameplay is so terrible I can't even verbally explain it. Everything is so stiff it's unbelievable. It becomes clear during this boss that you can't even turn around quickly without problems. What a piece of shit.

  • @AllHaiLKINGTIsHeRe3 I didn't actually grow up with the original Castlevania, but I still consider it a great game. Not implying that you're wrong or anything though, I respect your opinion.

  • Honestly, I never have trouble with the hall before the Grim Reaper - it's fighting Death that's the total BITCH. Just.... I have never beaten him intentionally, usually I just threw the cross in vain and ran around, and then realized I had beaten him. Then, somehow, I beat him again.

  • Holy crap this dude is a beast. i fianlly made it past the medusa heads and two knights. Then this unholy beast comes out throwing multiple sickles at me. Im using nestopia and have the game genie cheat for unlimited lives and still finding it impossible.

  • well done mate. that is no easy task. i always fuckin hated that part

  • When I'm playing the Origins map on Castlevania Harmony of Despair, I ALWAYS get stuck on the Grim Reaper :/

  • Fucking hardest video game fight ever.

  • that my friend is impressive !

  • Ye have mastered death. Ye earn me like.

  • So now that the Grim Reaper is dead, will people in Simon Belmont's world stop dying?

  • @captainunload Nope. As long as Dracula, his master, lives, the Grim Reaper will always return.

  • @lmphk

I was kind of joking. The point is, he 'killed' death. Shouldn't that have ramifications?

  • @captainunload I know. I just find it funny that Death has a master in the Castlevania storyline. DEATH!

  • @lmphk

Dracula's that rotten. He's even worse than death!

  • Congratulations your awesome i was kill the Grim Reaper only using subweapons

  • congratulations, you are a true belmont.

  • I...that was beautiful.

I never would've been able to keep the scythes under control like that.

You are my Savior for the Day.

  • This was the most annoying boss I have played in a looong time. Holy fuck this was hard. I had 1/2 my health so basicly 2 hits and you're dead. I had no subweapons. Took me about 245 times before I finally beat his goddamn ass. It was a torture of a mind, but after I finally finished him, I almost jizzed in my pants.

  • when I enter the room, he never appears :( so I can't beat the game :((

  • HOW THE FUCK DO U BEAT THIS BOSS HOLY SHIT

i keep dying... i can't get more than 6 life out of him. and i always lose between 1-3 hits just trying to get to him in stage 15.

  • WOAWWWWWWWW dude congrats.........SO VERY PROOOOOOOOOOOO....uff, seeing you doing this seems easy, because you do a extreme accurate pattern, i dont want to imagine how much time took you to discover it....but at the end the efford gave you a reward.....congrats from venezuela....asi se hace amigo ....

  • @luichter Actually, I didn't memorize any pattern when it came to the sickles. As for the Grim Reaper himself, his movement is way more obvious.

  • That was very impressive. It has just taken me all night to beat this boss. I killed him three times but the scythes got me before I could grab the orb twice (very frustrating). I was extremely low on health when I finally beat him so to see somebody do it without being hit and not even using any sub weapons was amazing.

  • No fucking way I've only beat the reaper once and it was because I was saving the game when I had the full health and reloaded it when I got hit .I'm like a noob compared to that guy

  • Very impressive.

  • lol love the description

  • you think this is hard i just barly beat mission 269 on mortal kombat where you gota fight 3 shao-kahns in a row i now have a blad spot where i ript my hair out haha

  • @ultmgammer

Castlevania on NES is waaay harder than.....

  • yes you are better than i am i can't do it without the boomerang!!

  • i bow to you

  • that level was hard as hell. Is there something wrong with your nintendo? It moves at snail pace.

  • this game is hard as fuck, i just got to the hallway before the reaper, WTF???

  • This is as far as I ever got. I never beat the Reaper as a kid and I propably couldn't

do it now. Good job, sir!!

  • I've never seen someone standing so defiantly before the Grim Reaper, and getting away with it.

  • @SeventhSun He's gotta have Teddy Roosevelt spirit in him to stand up against that.

  • epic

  • Two thumbs up! That`s some neat gaming! Without any subweapons Death is one of the thoughest bosses on the NES ever. You make it look so easy! Well done!

  • Death is one of the hardest bosses i've ever seen in videogame history. I only beat him once without a subweapon, but never did that again. I usually use the holy water. Without the double shot it's hard, because you can't stun him that good. Even the floor before him with all the axe warriors and medusa heads is insane.

Great vid, man. Keep it up!!!!

  • o_0

  • you make it look easy

  • Damn, what a pimp.

  • you make this look so easy and makes me want to play the 84631318 round against death but some deep in me are afraid to lose my mind once again LOL

So... I prefer my sanity and just watch your video, you did in 40 secs what I couldn't in 20 years and counting

  • just bet him without getting hit once. yay

  • I've never played this game, and watching you beat that guy makes it look so easy. But as far as I know, hes supposed to be the most difficult boss in the game? Well, maybe one day I'll purchase that game and see for myself :)

  • @TwilightArts Things usually tends to look easy when done by pros :) You can't tell from the video how stiff the game controls actually are, or what will happen if you get hit. The controls for this game is the biggest reason why the game is so hard, the way I see it. In Super Castlevania IV the controls were nearly perfected, but then the game got criticized for not being as challenging as it's prequels. Which says a lot I think :)

  • @LinusHagne I couldn't have said it better.

  • Outrageously badass job. Well done.

  • this boss is incredably difficult. i never have enough health to beat and the most i ever hit him was once.

  • @TheFloydios you can beat him with holy water the easiest if you just throw it on the platform where below where he comes down from and it will freeze him there keep throwing them and his scythes will never spawn and he will die right away

  • @AntichristDemoncore thanks for the tip but i bet death and the whole game about a week after i commented on this video. i saw someone on youtube beat him with holy water, when i saw this i was dissapointed because it looked way too easy and ruined the challenge. so i went hardcore and defeated death with triple-boomerang. i was so happy i almost had a seizure!

  • Actually, if you pay more attention to the scythes and not the Grim Reaper, it is do-able.

  • You are the god of video game!!

  • Good on you man!! So many videos i watched with people just using holy water or some cheap shit. You did it the old fashioned way. You have my respect.

  • very impressive and awesome job!!!! no way in hell i could defeat this boss like the way you did. i always used the triple axe weapon and the whip to destroy the sickles.

  • last night i tried to do this with just the whip. after an hour i was so stressed out i went to the liquor store and started drinking. my hands were bleeding because i punched out my cd player at my house. at one ponit i came so close, i killed him but he killed me with those flying brown things at the last second! man that was a stuggle

  • meh i lost my sanity back at Slash Man (MM7) and Volt Catfish (MMX3)

  • this is the hardest guy on the game in my opinion besides the first form of Dracula

  • Excellent job! Grim Reaper is one of the hardest bosses! You totally nailed him!

  • Nice Job... You tight at this boss

  • If I was a chick I'd totally ask if I could have your baby.

    Thou art an Castlevania pwnx0r

  • I remember spending hours going up and down the stairs a couple rooms before collecting hearts and getting the III boomerang then saying a prayer as I went up against him. He was worse than the hunch back with Frankensteins monster.

  • RESPECT

    -Sis

  • Now i have beaten Castlevania :P Feels so good :DD First time playing this, and first time i ever had finished any game on NES :DD

  • And i did not use holy water cuz that ruins the whole experience of that "FUCK YEAH! I FINALLY WON IT!!" feeling :D

  • Awesome, i just defeated this bitch :P many tries and many pissed off moments next i have to beat Dracula.

P.S. This is my first time i have ever played Castlevania, i have played it about few hours now : )

  • Sick performance, buddy, seriously you thats the sickest shit I´ve ever seen in my life!

  • YOU ARE THE MAN!

  • Ironic how *him* getting *you* in the corner actually helps you a lot.

  • Horrible memories...I could never...NEVER...defeat Grim... T_T...

  • you just put the wizard to shame!

  • This was totally amazing. Congratulations dude~!!!!!!

  • AMAZING

  • The Grim Reaper got totally owned. XD

  • I brought this back in '88 when it first came out.. damn I remember the reapear like it was yesterday. I struggled so hard to beat him maxxed out and you make it look easy!! Muchos respect

  • @Neosophist Uh, Castlevania 1 came out in '86, or did you mean you bought it in '88?

  • @meow6939 Published by Konami for the Family Computer Disk System in Japan in September 1986. A year later, in May 1987 it was ported to cartridge format and released in North America for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) followed by a European release in 1988. It was re-released for the Family Computer (FC) in cartridge format in Japan in 1993. It came out in Europe in 1988...

  • @Neosophist Oh, okay, I see

I just looked it up, but on the original, it said (c)1986

I just go by the original release

  • you re rigth is almost suicide go after death in the way you maded ... but how much time it took to you to get him in your frist time?

  • You mean the first time I ever tried to beat him? It took me ages to get through the hallway before it while still having enough health to at least stand a chance somehow. I didn't know the Holy Water trick back then so I just spent my time hoping to get lucky, which I eventually did.

  • why the holy water and not the cross?

is not the cross better to figth aganist him?

  • Holy Water is better because it paralyzes opponents, therefore making the boss battle insanely easy.

  • @lmphk It glitches him out. I always use the cross or axe. Way more fun.

  • If you throw the holy water repeatedly on the upper right platform as soon as the boss music starts, you can kill Death before he even moves. If you do it fast enough, his sprite won't even show up. I'd recommend you have at least a double shot though.

  • actually the best weapon I've found if you don't want to use the water glitch is the axe. With a triple shot it makes hitting the little psythes that like to spawn over your head A LOT easier.

  • @nigth5word No Holy Water is the best weapon in the game because it freezes all that it hits, so you can kill Death in like 5 seconds. But its cheap, because death is probably one of the hardest bosses in videogame history, and this guy makes it look easy its not I can assure you.

  • Whatever helps you sleep at night. ;)

  • Very good. I just noticed one thing. It seems in both your and my videos Death began moving only in one way near the end of the battle: Center->Left->Center. I wonder, is it just luck or is there a way to make Boss move in such manner most of the time?

  • I have noticed that as well, it might be that he always tries to jump over you, this would make the boss exceptionally easy if only it wasn't for those dang sickles.

  • Fantastic! I could never do that. I can't tell you how many times I caused my NES to malfunction after slamming the desk when losing to the Reaper... I found him harder than Dracula!

  • he is notoriously much harder than dracula sans holy water

  • You are Trevor.

  • Holy shit! You're beyond merely great. Exceptional, exceptional job. You should be put into a Hall of Fame or something. *thumbs up*

  • Very nice. I was pretty proud about having played through the whole game without getting hit, but I used the triple shot boomerang extensively. Doing the hardest boss battle in the game perfectly with no sub weapons is impressive. I salute you!

  • Thanks, also, beating the game without taking a single hit, even if you used the triple shot Boomerang a lot, is an achievement I will probably never reach. Nice job.

  • Damn. That would cause me to lose my mind tryin' that. Congrats on that.

  • Very nice, whip only is very skilled. Here's how I do it with the boomerang.

  • Wow, I would never believe this could be this easy if I hadn't seen it. The Grim Reaper is one of those bosses that had me cursing more profusely than most others. It doesn't help that each time you die, you start at the bottom of the stairs below!

  • Man, you are a NINJA!

In the 90´s, i needed maybe 4 months to beat this fuckin Death!

    This game still rules!

  • You are fucking hardcore man

  • madre de dios that was epic!

it's nigh impossible for most players to multitask between the scythes and Death himself. focus on Death and you'll get hit by a scythe that just so happens to materialize right where you're standing. focus on the scythes and Death collects your head using his Robe of Doom.

    my hat's off to you.

  • oh my god...

  • Excellent!

  • Amazing! I would never have done that!

  • NICE REFLEXES! I didn't think it was possible because the little scythes are random. I love the Castlevania series, but not enough to try this. They call him Death for a reason.

  • I was so little and my dad always played this for me. We always called death

"the wizard" cause we didnt know what he was.

  • That's a nice memory, thanks for sharing that. :)

  • Yea, I did this and it was a total pain. Took many hours and many profane words.

  • Impressive. I couldn't do that for sure. You deserve praise for completing such a difficult task.

  • Holy balls. Tip of the hat to you, sir!

  • VERY VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nicely done - trying to do that just made me throw controllers and yell lot. Congrats.

  • i love you

  • What are you complainin' about. You did a great job. You made it look so easy..

  • you made it look too easy
