Great video! Even thought the banana clip looks simple to use it is easy to break it or not clip it properly! I broke my one by just opening it so i need to get a good qualtiy one.

Well girls, back in the day we'd wear the banana clip(the old poppin out kind-can't wait to try the new hook kind) and we'd have cut bangs. We'd curl the bangs strait up, hair spray them, blow dry them and when the curl was set standing strait up we'd release the curling iron and fan out the "wave" like a big poofy flower. We looked so hot, add the giant hoop earrings, Mc Hammer pants and we were good to go! Love the video with the updated pompadour!

THanks for showing me how to actually put the bananna clip in my hair. You are right. I have the pop in clip kind I bought at Wal-Mart made by Conair. It was hard cuz one the bottom end of the V would come undone. lol. I will say it is so much cooler to wear a style like this on hot summar days. Great tut. A person could curl their hair and it would look great in that clip, if they have the time though.

@KristikrisMa It's actually "taut", look the word up I used it in the right context. And not everybody has to wear this clip, and not exactly the way I did it. Ive been rockin the bananna clip a lot lately and ive been perfecting it more each time & ladies, if you want to get the fly aways to stay back, take MAC brow gel in clear, or any other type of clear brow gel and run it against the hair, makes it look so polished Also helps to enhance baby hairs that really compliment this look, it helps to frame your face better since everything else is so polished back. ;)

wow, i never thought i would be seeing this... lol i do the same thing... i love doing this style, i have been doing it for years...  what also helps is a rat-tail comb for the side of your hair! it smooths the sides, so then its smoothed back, it looks really awesome when you have curls in the back... its a very sexy hair style, meant for any occasion !!

LOL I tried doing this just now and I ended up with a mullet. I don't have a comb or bobby pins lol. After step one of trying to "tease the hair and poof it out", my hair wouldn't do right and looked awkward.

it takes a little bit of practice lol.  I was horrible at doing the poof thing at first

i find it's easier, however, if you take the hair you're going to use for the pompadour in a little hair tie, gather the rest of your hair in your banana clip/hair tie, and THEN make the pompadour last.

it is easier, I just have the little ends of the hair I used in the pomp sticking out and not in the hair clip =/ Then I start to look like alfalfa lol

hmm how long is your hair? If it's really long then it can end up weighing the clip down and being hard for it to stay in. If I'm having that trouble then I'll criss-cross some bobby pins down the clip, so it catches the clip and hair right at my scalp...hard to explain lol
