just gonna grab my bunny, light a relaxing fire, and watch a movie with that bunny bundled up in a blanket on a cold night. chilling with my bunny beside me. damn straight. {i want a bunny so bad}
To all the people that bitch about little things like the owner petting a bunny when it's on it's back, why don't you take a look at some of the suggested videos on your right, and you will find bunnies getting devoured by a snake in some assholes room. This video, much better.
@VictoriousGirl22 i know... i was 12 at that time... i hold it up... just beeing about to snuggle it and then i turn it around and see a half eaten rabbit...
and in addition to that the doctor made me pay 50€=80 $ that he kills it...
Awww such a wee cutie ^^ I could never hold my bunny like that because my dad dropped him when he was small, so he didn't like being picked up :( Animals (like small children) make it fairly obvious when they're not happy - this little cutie is fine :) stop panicing XD And besides, grown up now so yeah, problem? XD
This is so cute and fluffy and adorable and i want BB he is so cute and if i get a rabbit which i will im going to keep from harm for the rest of my life
I hate how in every cute bunny/cat/puppy video, the top comment is either someone's abusive reply to somebody else's comment or... "IT'S SO FLUFFY I'M GONNA DIE!!!!"
@PammieChan Your an idiot for thinking it's relaxed and calm. Being put on it's back triggers a prey response and yes it appears calm because it is pretending to be dead. Where in fact it is actually panicking. It's heart rate and blood pressure go way up. And chemicals in it's brain are effected to. If a rabbit is in this state for to long it can die. This technique should only be used for SHORT amounts of time with UNCOOPERATIVE rabbits while clipping it's nails and other maintenance.
You're the idiot for arguing one month later, just enjoy a cute video. Relax, breath some fresh air, drink a glass of milk. I read half of what you wrote. :)
Contrary to people's opinions, facts are facts. It's not good for a rabbit to be held this way. It puts pressure on the nerves in the spine and puts them in a trance. They literally cannot move to let you know they don't like it. In some cases they have problems breathing because of pressure on the lungs, but again, they can't let you know because they can't move. So please, get facts right before you say a rabbit enjoys this or it builds trust. The animal has no choice.
@CrimsonTideM You make a compelling argument. And I'm not disputing any of it, but the question is where do you get your FACTS. There are many things out there that are believed to be facts but come from word of mouth, or are just old wives tales. Now if your facts come from certified veterinarians or animal researchers or peer reviewed articles than they can be believed. But if your facts come from common belief or personally influence writings than you might want to recheck them. FYI
@josefmanga Facts about this are all over the internet if you take a moment to do a little research. I confirmed it with my veterinarian not long ago because I'm currently looking to adopt a rabbit and I always do my research before purchasing an animal. He confirmed that holding a rabbit this way isn't good for them and once they're flipped onto their back there is little they can do to tell you they don't like it. Trust me, I'm not just calling my opinion a fact. ^.^ It's backed up.
@josefmanga There have been studies done and it has been proven it is a prey response that triggers the trance responce in rabbits. It is not good for them, and it will not help you bond with them. If anything it will make them more frightened about being handled. I have looked it up, talked to two separate vets that I take my bunny and my 2 rats to. Asked the breeder I got my bunny from about it. And I have worked at a pet store and was required to know these things about rabbits.
@simsfannumber3 You thought that was rude? Wow you would not like to see me actually try to be rude. And the people that I was apparently rude to deserved it. They were wrong and needed someone to set their head straight. Anyway that's not the point the point is people need to stop torturing their rabbits. I realize a lot of people don't know these things, I mean why would they? It's not really common knowledge. But now you know so stop doing it unless it is 100% absolutely necessary.
@simsfannumber3 If that's the only way your bun will let you do it then yes 2 or 3 mins wont be bad. But like I said before if your bunny will let you do it without using the trance method that's even better. When a rabbit is on it's back it puts a lot of stress on it's spine. And if it all of a sudden kicks it can break it's own back. etc..etc. So be very careful. And if you can get away without doing it it`s just a lot better for your bunnies health.
@Superrwham lawl <3 i think by the way its not giving a fuck i think its quite relaxed <3 dont you think that if it was scared it would move a little? and its only shaking cause the person's hand is shaking, silly <3 (: its so young i dont think its ever had a predator put it on its back :) it cant be scared of something thats never happend <3
@Superrwham This is not always true. When you hold a rabbit like that you're putting it into a trance, if the rabbit didn't want to be held that way it would've kicked and struggled.
@Superrwham No, the rabit does not think its going to die, this is called 'trancing' It's very commonly done when grooming your bunnies nails. Learn to look shit up, idiot.
@UsmiMashka Thats actually not a sign of fear. The rabbit is in trance, as any rabbit owner would know. Some rabbits even like to lie on their back when sleeping, but only when they are very very relaxed. Mine does it, and there are a few videos of other bunnies doing the same here in Youtube.
Anyone with a rabbit knows how to trance it, as sometimes its the best way to do nail trimming or to give them their medicine.
@Superrwham STFU if you don't like how she is holding the rabbit, you could easily re-phrase that to sound nicer. and people do that to "hypnotize" them, and they have gotten used to it. Not to mention you missed a key factor called trues. The animal trusts it owner.
theres nothing wrong with holding a bunny on its back, .really, whats gonna happen is his head going to explode? obviously hes was enjoying it, if a rabbit doesnt like something your doing he will let you know lol
@Superrwham My bunny loves to lie this way too. actually all my 3 bunnies love that. and they don't think they're going to die. they fall asleep when you hold them like that.
@Superrwham actually: domesticated rabbits love being on their backs because they can look upon their owner and it provides the rabbit with the sense of trust it needs to be healthy. i've had my bunny for 6 years and from day 1 i did it, and it fell asleep on its back everytime. if it was thinking it was going to die, then it would twist around. also, bunnies shake when they are content because they get hot so their breathing increases. idiot.
Uh, yeah, essentially all of that information is incorrect. Animals such as rabbits don't roll on their backs in the wild and readily expose their organs. In fact, among a large swath of wild animals (predators and prey alike) this posture is submissive -- exposure of the genitals is a sign of submission in many species (wolves perhaps most famously). The rabbit is actually QUITE happy to be in this position.
You're welcome -- wrong information needs to be corrected. Your response wasn't informative or nurturing, it was pretentious and accusatory. You were talking in sweeping generalizations about what "predators do in the wild." The fact is, I've lived in the "wild" for a long time -- I've witnessed thousands of hours of "predatory" activity. Predators don't somehow magically focus on rolling their prey (especially in the case of rabbits) onto their backs to expose their organs.
