My cat Gypsy died just recently, oh it was devastating, for me, my brother and my mom. A day later, this song comes on, not on a christian radio, surprisingly. This is my song for Gypsy, I will sing this one day just for her! I cried and cried when i heard this. Crying horribly while typing. (sorry if bad)... I can't wait to meet her again in heaven. Hi, Candie. Yes, our bodies return to dust when we die, and it's our bodies that 1 Thess. 4 is speaking about. Our souls go straight to heaven when we die -- the Lord Himself indicated this on the cross when He told the criminal next to Him "this day you will be with Me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

But whatever, this is such a beautiful song... let's just enjoy it as it is and set the doctrinal debate aside. ;) Best to you,

I love this song! The words are comforting and remind me that i can always go to Jesus no matter what I'm going through.

I changed one line in last verse since the theology is a bit off from the Bible, hinting at instantly going to heaven as soon as a person dies, which is not entirely Biblical (Genesis 3:19). So I wrote it according to how the Bible portrays it (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18):

@Candie4JC Respectfully, Candie, I think you've misunderstood 1 Thessalonians 4. It's speaking about the time when our bodies will rise to meet the Lord at His return. It's very clear from what Jesus told the criminal on the cross next to Him that the man's soul would be in heaven that same day. (Luke 23.42-46)

@jesinon That's exactly what I was saying about 1 Thess 4. I was just saying that this song made it sound like as soon as a person dies, they will go straight to heaven, but in the Bible says that a person will return to dust (Gen 3:19) until Christ comes back when those souls that had been sleeping will rise first and be caught up in the heavens (1 Thess 4). Sorry if what I as saying didn't make that clear :)

@jesinon With all due respect, I think that what Jesus is saying on the cross is this: "Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise." In other words, "I am telling you today, that you will be with me in paradise."

Seeing as the old Hebrew did not have any quotation marks such as apostrophes and commas, that was left to the Bible interpreter to decide. I think it has to be this way or else the rest of the texts referring to life after death don't make sense. God Bless Friend
