1) taurus not meant to be in the same market it was before, the fusion took that void for ford.
2) sho isnt meant to be the everyday taurus, it is meant to be a mks except faster, essentially a sporty mks. plus mks looks like crap, taurus looks better. so 45k is for a sporty lincoln, 25k buys you a larger fusion.
No, I'm not obsessed w/the Fusion. In fact, it's almost too big of a car for me. I wasn't even a "fan" of the old Taurus as I thought they were ugly & everyone & his dog had one. BUT, this new Taurus is too big & expensive to try to get the old Taurus market. And I doubt that a basic SEL model would be "smaller" as that simply doesn't make any sense. They should make a smaller version of it but I doubt seriously that they will do that. They will just push the Fusion more.
This car doesn't share much with former Taurus models (other than the name). It's a much too big car for comparing it to the former models. It's also priced itself out of the market that it would have sold to before. The Fusion is a better mid-sized, mid-priced option and I think it's actually better looking than this overgrown tank of a car. I predict that Ford will admit that they screwed up on this one and that very few will be sold compared to their other models.
I don't think so. I think this is a good change for the Taurus. The Taurus has been lacking in standard features and options. This Ford Taurus is equipped with Paddle Shifters and a Sharper Steering System. Those are the kind of technologies you find in high end expensive cars.
@heartlessvietboy Just wait & see. I bet there will be 3 times the number of Fusion's sold this year compared to this over-priced battle ship. It's TOO big & too overpriced for the people who used to buy the former Taurus models.
Are you obsessed with the Fusion or something? So what if the fusion will sell more? What does it have to do with the Ford Taurus? Do you care about GM that much? I understand you are a Taurus Fan and are angry that they made a larger more expensive SHO model. But you don't have to buy the SHO if you don't want, you can opt for the Basic SEL model. It may even be a little smaller.
