Zardoz is a twist on Brave New World as Brave New World is a twist on Plato's Republic. It speaks of the cycle of Barbarism, civilization and human hubris. Here A Nature Philosophy out of Nietzsche or Rousseau trumps the short comings of a vain psudo culture. Existence precedes culture. ZED frees them that they might live naturally again and to rebuild civilization with truer value. It' also has all the charm of a drive in movie like the Planet of the Apes.
