  • My god the man is right. I tried too change my timing due to a bad youtube clip that didnt tell me what Neil did (dont do it without a coach) and now I cant even find my old timing, now my game feels wrong all the time, even when I am on the right line. My confidence is on the floor. The moral of the story DONT TRY IT ON YOUR OWN!

  • please neil do a video on cue timing because your videos are so helpful

  • it would be better if u'd use a lapel-mic instead...

  • i dont have a coach..nd i hv been tryin to put a pause into my cue action nd now my cue action is destroyed...i was playin ok without it making avg breaks of arnd 25..nw...my cue action is kind of destroyed...wt should i do?

  • I believe your video provides good tips but I can't follow your commentary due to the noises. I have problem with strong screw. Though I aim low and hit hard, I'm unable to truly hit low on the cue ball. Either the cue ball jumps or the screw is much weaker than expected. I also find that I tend to raise the cue tip and drop my handgrip after I strike. Could you advise what cause the problems? speed/smoothness of back/forward swing, the height of bridge/handgrip, or anything else? Thanks.

  • great but i had just one question i have been playing for awhile now and yesterday i realized that i bring my elbow way too far back , and my hand almost gets straight while stroking , its too long so just wondering to know if its a big problem to do with missing balls or not? thank you so much?

  • @the147break you really don't need to take the cue back that far .........difficult for me to judge without seeing .......but a shorter backswing should help

  • @neilmaxman thank you neil for your reply i m glade you are the only one that can help me

as you mentioned you cant judge without seeing there fore i uploaded 3 videos( in 1 of these videos i tried to hit different like shorten the cue, stance too far, and closer to the cue ball and none helped me.....

videos are in videos list , i got only 3 videos that i uploaded them all today

    thank you so much

  • cool video..hope to see more from you..thx and it's help me a lot=)

  • for long distance shots is loose grip and hit hard the key to it when i pot a long ball i miss alot of them even in 8-ball pool if the grip is too loose i find i miss a shot even its hard to find the way of playing i be happy with can anyone help me out thanks

  • cheers mate great videos.

  • Neil, your tips are excellent, i m very appreicate on your coaching!!

  • hey neil, just wondering why heaps of players have their middle finger twitching before they hit? Does it help line up the shot?

  • @kokomrkoko i've been asked this loads of times and it has nothing to do with potting balls or anything .......its mainly more to do with nervous habit

  • @kokomrkoko well.. i find it happening its not about being nervous.. its ur muscles being tense.. and moving it seems relaxing..

  • Excellent tips mate, well done and thanks. I play A grade snooker in a comp and have played for 35 years and had a couple of my own tables and still picked up enough to improve my game. Very well made and explained. Thanks. Martin

  • I GOT THE PIONT

    THX

  • some people are so thick with their comments about this guy isn't as good as the other guy which i wont name, does hendry or o'sullivan have a coach yes they do and are their coaches as good as them no they are not. some of the best football coaches wasn't top players as long as they know what they are talkin about thats it. i'm no expert but i agree with all of what neilmaxman has said.

  • @tornadotaylor1 thank you for your comments

  • im zia from INDIA..great advice there on cue action and timing...found it really helpful.....was trying to add the pause into my cue action because everyone recommended it..but i found it to be harmful to my flow and to my concentration..really hampered with my potting ability as well....

lost interest in the game for a brief moment too cause i was thinking i am not playing properly and had some other faults in my game which i just couldnt find...now my game is just fine...thanks neil !!!!

  • I'm sure whatever you're saying is very good but, unfortunately I can't get a word of it - poor sound quality!

  • @Jone36 i'm really sorry about this ........my camera is like its owner ..........old and wearing out ........i'm really sorry

  • You are so right about the pause. My coach and friend Archie Wood has put the pause into my cue action , but most of all he has told me how to sight the cue lineand stand correctly with the right foot under the cue line. knowing about the cue action gives you the knowledge to correct your game when things are not right . I realy do rate your advice it is top drawer . I did also know Patsy Houlihan a truley great cueman. thanks

  • @MrRogersjon glad you found this useful and interesting

  • Hi Neil, could you please tell me how to stop jabbing at the cue ball, I pause at the front and have a nice slow back swing but I seem to jab at the ball when screwing back.

    Many Thanks

    Frank.

  • Last time i happened on this vid i thought it was just left on nothing happening.Seems people are now commenting i will.

Why are people dissing this guy.he is passing on some advice for free and tbh it isn't bad advice.

Okay i think it a little harsh to mention the other guys tips being wrong,he should have refrained but they were wrong....but i'm allowed to say that.

@Neil..hello bud i've sent a msg asking you a question as i struggle with one or two points ,if you have time.. .greetz phil

  • thank you phil ........and you are quite correct about the harshness and not ethical ........and it has been taken onboard.....you too have a message

  • again , all you are doing is copying snooker tips # videos.

stop changing your mind & use the rear pause , as snooker tips# does, because you can't be consistant, or break build without it !

WHY DON'T YOU POST A VIDEO OF YOU MAKING A 50 BREAK USING NO REAR PAUSE !

  • if you listen to snooker tips he tells you to pause at the front and pause at the back........and this is totally wrong and causes a snatch in the cue action........and also if you watch said clip again he also mentions your eyes moving to and from the object ball .........that isn't cue action .....that is sighting........the reason i "copy" as you claim is to highlight the mistakes that are being made.......as for the 50 break without a rear pause absolutely no problem keep a look out for it

  • Clevertrev...of course the gentleman will be able to get a 50 break but thats not the issue nor is it relevant.

He is trying to offer you FREE advice on how to do something in the correct manner (his qualification doesn't matter either) if its correct..which it is then accept it.Better try it.

Abusing him for doing so is purile and makes you look the idiot not him.

  • thank you phil for the kind words.........but i will do the clip with pleasure because it has been requested.........and seeing as my credentials are doubted i will also show my official WORLD SNOOKER ASSOCIATION coaching card as proof

  • @clevertrevor01 u nugget brain he did the clip of 50+ break......F%@^ snooker tips they give out wrong info and cud damage yr game

  • as i say in my clips durban i will leave on comments good or bad and i have trevor is entitled to his views ........so if he believes the other clips to be correct then he has a right to his opinion

  • the problem is my eyes going up and on the cue ball and the objecked ball i dont have time to look where i am going to hit

  • hi neil i have been working so hard on my cue action now but i never did wiggles befor my shot. i jsut got down and lined my shot up then play it. now that i have put wiggles into my shots i am finding it very hard to keep my eye on the target on the ball i am going to it

  • i prefer the snooker tips, tips and not pro because at least he looks more pro than this so called pro tips fella, i reckon he could easy clear that little line up u had goin and then some

  • thank you for your honest opinion ......please note though playing and talking at the same time is a little distracting and also i could have started the clip all over again from the beginning ,so it appears to be done 1st time but i keep any errors in to keep it real

  • hi neil when you say bring the cue back nice and slowly which ball will i be looking at befor i play my shot. and as i line my shot up and put my tip 2 the cue ball is that my pause?

  • hi neil can you do a video on gripping the cue

  • i will put it on my list of clips to do

  • TOP VID!!!!!! thanks again Neil : ) very clear and concise....... wouldnt mind seeing a vid on how you would excecute a pause.... i used to never pause (like in this vid) but it can help with pressure pots

  • a pause is very difficult to put into your game unless its done properly , if its not done properly this will have a poor effect on your cue action

  • *EXCELLENT*

this tip is one of the most important tip in the whole game

well explained, though people might take it too easy but i think other people should watch this clip excluding the beginners

( but i didnt get what u meant by pausing!

u mean no pause at all?

    or wat?

    thank you
