It's also not to say that he still wouldn't have worked with Krist and gotten a new drummer. I do however think that Kurt would have taken some time away from the limelight in the late 90's. He had plenty of personal issues to deal with.

@Shadowrunner282 Yes..I know the song and love it. Here's the deal - Nirvana's original contract with DGC was for 3 albums. Nevermind and In Utero were the first two. "You Know You're Right" was the first recording for the 3rd album that would likely have been released in early 1995. After touring to promote that album, the band would likely have been done by the end of 1996. Kurt was sick of the limelight, and Grohl would likely have broken off to start Foo Fighters anyway.

But today it's well documentet that Nirvana was broken up befor Kurt killed himself (quote Dave in 1998).The fact that Kurt didn't want to lead the Loolaplooza Tour in 1994 was the end of Nirvana with Krist and Dave.Kurt wrote in his journals that Nirvana belongs to him,it's his band (-name).And also that Kurt would go in a new musical direction.He planed to made an album with Michael Stippe from R.E.M.!Kurt had allready the plain ticket to visit Stippe,but than he was dead

Honestly, Nirvana was near the end of their run at the time of his death. I loved them, but I remember how things were going at the time. Kurt was making solo acoustic demos.
