  • This is one of my favorite old time tunes. Well done. I'm giving the guitar a rest and taking up the banjer. It's so much more exciting!

  • Great ! Thank you.

  • very nice...2 in the morning and I've had a brew or two and this music is going straight to my soul...in the best way!!!

  • Nice playing Julie. I've been working on this one for a while, it's one of those tunes I still can't play confidently yet. I'll have a go at your version. Great video.

  • Really really nice - made more encouraging by the unedited lead into the tune. I don't know if this tune is in anyway a derivation of Rabbie Burns's poem 'Cauld Frosty Morning' but the poem feels like it fits

Keep posting these natural videos they're excellent

  • Worth a million! Your smile and your banjo playin. SO very cool! Peace-n-Love to you always and your fam! And anyone you haven't met yet. And...:-)

  • great job.

how do you get your banjo to make that clucky, non-resonating sound?

  • Had to sub because this stuff is good! t:)

  • Cool video, I was just playing guitar along w/ you, quite fun. Key of Am if anyone was wondering.

  • This song really rocks on the clawhammer! Great job!

  • Wow you play it so well :)

    Great job!

  • Look's more like a warm sunny morning to me.LOL,,,Nice playing!

  • that was great, could you do a little how to video by any chance please?

  • hello mrs doggan this is me brandon cooney at school. u do a great job playing the banjo and i will see u monday at art class. again great job and have a nice day

  • Whew. That's the best I've ever heard that song played. Heck, that's the best clawhammer I've ever heard. Sheesh, you're ridiculous. ;)

  • I love that light.

It looks cold and frosty, just perfect.

    Awesome picking there, Julie.

And it looks like you're having a blast.

Which is the point, ain't it?

    5 stars!

  • Thats amazing

  • "Cold Frosty Morning" playing at cold frosty morning :) Great!

I found only yesterday that there are such wonderful folk tunes in America.

    Beautiful and amazing

  • Dear friends!

I´m trying desperately to learn how to play this wonderful tune myself. What kind of tablature did you use? I`ve got one by Mike Iverson and one by from Dwight Diller. But neither of these sound right. The full and sparkling"bum ditty" sound is lacking. Can anyone help me? It would also help if was played real slow!

  • Julie... you rock! I love that tune. You play it so well! Thanks.

  • This is one of my favorite songs. You did a great job with it too! Thanks.

  • You've read my mind. I've been working on that tune and it is way past cold and frosty here in the Apps. Excellent job and you rock as always.

  • wow, great job! keep posting!

  • Hey, Julie,

You are, by far, the BEST.

  • another great vid and song! keep 'em coming!! :)

  • Now we need some folks doin some old-time dancing.

  • Great playing, as usual, Julie. The high contrast lighting and the 15fps shooting speed made following your hands a bit difficult, otherwise I'd have given six stars. What a treasury of clawhammer videos now on Youtube with you, Zepp, Jim Pankey, and dozens of others. A great teaching resource.

  • When I can afford a better camera...then I can do better w/ the imagery....it is all just for fun....enjoy!

  • It's the light coming off your computer monitor. I had the same problem and just turned the monitor away when I recorded. Some of my videos you can actually read the screen in my glasses :)

  • It was really sunny out! I wanted to get the light the way it is...I guess it was the mixture of snow and sunshine. I though it was cool. Kind of campy...in the Edward Scissors hand sort of way!

  • This is great! :D

  • PRITTY!Thats the way Frosty Morn sounds in my mind.Wish I could do that.THANKS!

  • Another good one, Julie, and I liked the nice effect with the lighting...

  • Yay for Mrs. Duggan!

    :)
