Really wonderfull, very romantic, but still in style of Purcell. I don't know about the style changes/ adaptations. It really also depends on style of the director, and there's not just one right way, the're lots of different approaches.
But i really like the warmth and depth of this voice.
Kirkby has groomed her voice and mind perfectly for Baroque masterpieces and especially for Purcell but I certainly like Jens equally as well. Maybe this is a warmer style?
I like this more than the Kirkby. Either better production - for I have heard neither live - or this voice has more depth and resonance. And if you're talking about baroque convention, this has it. Perfect diction, slightly slower portamento, careful vibrato (but not absent), decorated repeats, but not too much. True, the instrumentation is not as the original, but you can go too far trying to recreate the original sound. The modern audience actually hears differently than the 17th century one.

Not come across this singer before. Very impressive, lovely pure tone but slightly lacks the character that Kirkby brings to to the role.
