I'm not sad about this casting news at all. Does he look like Jace? YES. But is his acting superb? NO. Jace is such a multidimensional character. On the surface Jace is an arrogant, sarcastic pretty-boy. But beneath the facade he puts up he is emotionally damaged. So vulnerable. The actor cast as Jace has to be able to put all of the nuances of Jace onto the screen. Honestly, I don't think Alex is capable of that (based on his acting in I Am Number 4) while I'm sure Jamie Campbell Bower is.

I loved Alex since I watched Storm Breaker and ive watched every movie he has ever stared in since (even the weird British onces) and hes personality just suits Jace.

Alex Pettyfer is the guy I pictured to be Jace while reading this, so it's a bit dissappointing. Good luck to him playing in the next movie though, it's bound to be popular as well, although I think the MI series would've been more successful for him. Just got done seeing him in "In Time' and it was definitely a neat movie to watch.

He should be playing both movies! No one's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than him. And that Jamie someone blah blah, he doesn't suit with Lily Collins. The girl would just look like she has a ridiculous taste in boys. I'd rather not watch this movie if Alex doesn't get to be Jace. </3 So sorry.

Oh my God. I could kill him. Seriously? Anyone who has read TMI would agree that Alex Pettyfer is WAY better as Jace Herondale. He is the only person the face of this planet that could play him. In the books, Jace smirks a lot. It's his trademark, in fact. Jamie Campbell Bower cannot do that smirk. At all. Only Alex Pettyfer. It's just the basics.

As i read this book i pictured ALex Pettyfer as Jace and no one else!!!! But when the movie comes out i dont think i could bring myself to watch when it comes to it that Alex turned this role!!! I was 100% Alex Pettyfer and then I saw Jamie and I was REALLY upset but then I started watching the stuff hes in and read what cassandra clare said hpw she cried and how lily said he was amazing . She also said they had great chemistry and thats exactly what we love about the book :D waiting on simon isabelle and alec here....I really wanna know :O!

honestly i wouldn't like him as Jace, i do like him as an actor but not for this role, but then again that jamie kid looks weird and he is a worse choice. i saw this movie today and the actor is saw: i thought he could be Jece, losing his british accent and curling the hair more: Freddie Stroma, i haven't seen him in a lot of movies, can't say if he can play a 'dark' character, but hes not bad, and looks good and has a nice body!!! let me know what you think of him :)

I loved Alex since I watched Storm Breaker and ive watched every movie he has ever stared in since (even the weird British onces) and hes personality just suits Jace.
His cocky, funny, HOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTT and is fit for the character. His even ready-to-go for it too with his training in Storm Breaker and I Am Number 4.
If he doesn't change his mind the Mortal instruments just wont be right :(

Alex Pettyfer is the guy I pictured to be Jace while reading this, so it's a bit dissappointing. Good luck to him playing in the next movie though, it's bound to be popular as well, although I think the MI series would've been more successful for him. Just got done seeing him in "In Time' and it was definitely a neat movie to watch.

@planetcoach28 Personally, I prefer Jamie Campbell-Bower. As much as I like his acting, Alex Pettyfer can't do the Herondale smirk. Plus, I always imagined Jace as someone a bit more like Jamie than Alex. Just my opinion, though. You're entitled to your own.

I am enraged that Jamie might play the role of Jace instead of Alex. I had just watched the movie "Beastly" a week or two before I started reading the books and when I was starting to read more about Jace, I automatically thought about Alex. And I respect Jamie, I do, but for me he is just not the right person to play Jace. It will be disappointing for me if he does play Jace. Hopefully it will be just as amazing though.

Well, I completely agree if Alex Pettyfer chooses "The last apprentice - Revenge of the witch", because I think it's a better fit for him.
