Catholicism in the Philippines is corrupt and the gov't there is the same. It doesn't help that majority of the population over there aren't educated enough to know the real truth and see through all the BS Catholic Bishop and it's minions say and the same goes with the politicians.
I agree, a lot of government officials, and the priests in the catholic church are just totally ignoring the cycle of poverty that poor families have. Generally poor men drink, when they drink, they want sex without using their upper head, then the poor housewife will just give birth to so many kids, unable to have her tubes tied, buy contraceptives like pills, or even condoms. The phil catholic church do not see the kids living on the strees, families with so many small kids on the streets!
Lets not forget that the sex trade is also near Manila in the cities of Angeles and Subic being a left over biproduct of the Militaty years the U.S had their bases there. I've been the the Philippines and believe you can make a living, and feed your familys in the provinces with just a little land, and that is the dream I guess, until they get stuck in the slums and in a cycle of poverty.

Many are ignorant of the things we know, follow the belief that you need to migrate to a city to find your fortune. :( People have always moved to the city to find work, but in this case it just does not work. There are some jobs, but they are poor paying and the prices in Manila are higher than in other areas of the Philippine.

Was Philippines considered to be the richest country in asia during Spanish colonization? I'm sure the government then was also corrupt. Amazing how a country goes to economic decline. Haiti was also wealthy when it was a French colony. Many countries in Africa were prosperous while they were under the Europeans. Could it be that europeans must be doing something right? I know there's poverty there as well but not as bad as asia, africa and south america.
Lack of government policies to build the country's infrastructures and controlling the booming population has been an issue due to the strong influence of the Roman Catholic church. There is no positive direction in the country unless the president, who is non-Catholic, has the willpower to go against his religious conscience and the powerful Roman catholic hierarchy..to do what is right, provide education and services to reduce birth rate and avoid the worsening population problems.

@rogerrosales1 catholicism is a way of life. im from Guam, we are strong catholics and we are poorer than usual but no where as bad as the philippines. and i think poor is relative. these guys dont know what rich is, they dont have much to compare there life to. but what i noticed is family ties and discipline in poor places are very very strong. something that you dont see much in the "developed" countries.
@paulinotou in the philippines we do have both "extremes" - the very rich and the very poor. and if you have been here you must have noticed that it is the poorest of the poor (especially from depressed areas) that have a very troubled family life: son killing or raping a mother; an irresponsible and a drug-dependent father, etc. while it is true that same things happen to rich families percentage is much lower compared to the so-called poorest of the poor. a very sad fact!

majority of filipinos are talented, skilled and hard-working people. what makes the philippines poor is their religious belief (majority are catholics) that promotes population growth (from the bible: "go forth and multiply..."). the church is against family planning, birth control, etc. the catholic bishops conference of the philippines is against many government programs creating job opportunities. although i consider myself a catholic, i already left the catholic church years ago.
the roman catholic church in the philippines is for population explosion. she tolerates poverty and sees untidy children from slum areas as "blessings from God." she is against the plan of creating another "las vegas" in the country, thus, depriving filipinos of employment opportunities. it is a shame for us, filipinos because we brag of ourselves as "the only christian nation in asia" and yet were branded as one of the most corrupt nations in the world!

i live here in manila and you cant blame the people.. its the corruption from the top to the bottom. the pay is so low and the jobs so few that its the only way the store clerks and taxi drivers &etc can make a living.. its hard to blame anyone for the way things are here. however it has to start from the top and over time maybe the corruption will stop. no countries want to invest in the philippines because its so corrupt. also, abortion should be legal and birth control more readily available

I have been to Manila and also to Davao city and have spent time in the villages. My wife and daughter are from the Philippines. I Know many people there. Most of the people are really hard working and god fearing people. They might be poor but they are proud and they work hard. My wife is the best person I know. She never judges anyone and always looks for the best in people. Being poor is not a crime.

Was Philippines considered to be the richest country in asia during Spanish colonization? I'm sure the government then was also corrupt. Amazing how a country goes to economic decline. Haiti was also wealthy when it was a French colony. Many countries in Africa were prosperous while they were under the Europeans. Could it be that europeans must be doing something right? I know there's poverty there as well but not as bad as asia, africa and south america.

There is no positive direction in the country unless the president, who is non-Catholic, has the willpower to go against his religious conscience and the powerful Roman catholic hierarchy..to do what is right, provide education and services to reduce birth rate and avoid the worsening population problems.

@paulinotou yes my dear! what i mean was catholic christianity IN THE PHILS. was introduced by spain (or spanish friars for that matter). wasn't phils. colonized by spain for over 300 years? as a result filipinos were brainwashed and the greatest irony is that they (filipinos) turned more "hardcore" that their brain-washers. no wonder they are even more "religious" than spaniards themselves! as far as i know spanish government allows divorce artificial birth control etc. (lack of space...)

@rogerrosales1 catholicism is a way of life. im from Guam, we are strong catholics and we are poorer than usual but no where as bad as the philippines. and i think poor is relative. these guys dont know what rich is, they dont have much to compare there life to. but what i noticed is family ties and discipline in poor places are very very strong. something that you dont see much in the "developed" countries.

@paulinotou in the philippines we do have both "extremes" - the very rich and the very poor. and if you have been here you must have noticed that it is the poorest of the poor (especially from depressed areas) that have a very troubled family life: son killing or raping a mother; an irresponsible and a drug-dependent father, etc. while it is true that same things happen to rich families percentage is much lower compared to the so-called poorest of the poor. a very sad fact!

majority of filipinos are talented, skilled and hard-working people. what makes the philippines poor is their religious belief (majority are catholics) that promotes population growth (from the bible: "go forth and multiply..."). the church is against family planning, birth control, etc. the catholic bishops conference of the philippines is against many government programs creating job opportunities. although i consider myself a catholic, i already left the catholic church years ago.

i live here in manila and you cant blame the people.. its the corruption from the top to the bottom. the pay is so low and the jobs so few that its the only way the store clerks and taxi drivers &etc can make a living.. its hard to blame anyone for the way things are here. however it has to start from the top and over time maybe the corruption will stop. no countries want to invest in the philippines because its so corrupt. also, abortion should be legal and birth control more readily available

I have been to Manila and also to Davao city and have spent time in the villages. My wife and daughter are from the Philippines. I Know many people there. Most of the people are really hard working and god fearing people. They might be poor but they are proud and they work hard. My wife is the best person I know. She never judges anyone and always looks for the best in people. Being poor is not a crime.

Kung posible ay ipag dugtong ang NLEX at SLEX Para maibsan ang traffic sa MM.
I extend ang LRT or MRT from Batangas to the south,& Pamapanga to the north.
Magkaroon ng mga major business franchises ,government offices & services sa mga probinsya.(Ang tao kasi ay parang kulisap na kung saan may ilaw ay doon pupunta).
