@hitman30009 The 'bar walls' are just grids that can be found in any Target, Home Depot, or Walmart. Just google C&C cages. That will take you to the website with all the info on the materials. The C&C stands for Cubes and Coroplast - anyway - very cool sight with lots of info. Good luck.
@GuineaKidz Got her from a breeder/shower. Juliette won 1st place in a show. Just could not pass her up - she was actually kept in a dark little cage in the lady's back yard. Just try your local listings of Craigslist or pets and look up Texel Guinea pigs. They can be hard to find but they are adorable. good luck
@AZKr3w34 Hi, all I can say is 'google' the word 'where to buy coroplast in my local area' - and then put in the city and state. That may help. Sometimes sign places carry it. I happen to have a brother in law that has a shop and works with the stuff and can get it pretty easy. Good luck
@36shima36 Actually yes they are time consuming. You have to keep their litter clean, change the 'fleece material'. they usually use their litter box, but not always. They need hay and fresh veggies. The kind I have here needs to have their hair brushed and trimmed because it keeps growing. They are very sweet, you just have to have a lot of time.
@123reptileking Yes, but I was referring to the cleaning of the cages and upkeep on them. They are worth it - just give them lots of love and attention.
For my pigs, I have a major problem! When I put down the newspaper, I put the fleece on top of it. Do I put it down like newspaper-towels-fleece or towels-newspaper-fleece?
@Warriorcat666 I think you had it right the first time - newsp/towelw/fleece. But what do I know, that was too much work - I just used the litter in the pans and fleece. They were pretty good going pee in the litter pans.
@thespoiledpets - Maybe have something hard under it, like glass/acrylic/coroplast, and fold the ends of the fleece under it. And make sure the glass/acrylic/coroplast sheet is the same size of the cage, so they cant dig and flip it over.
hi love your cage set up and your cute piggies, i was wondering where did you bought the bed? coz my piggie poops on their cuddle cup? and whats under your beddings..
@gracelovechristian The beds are small cat beds - found them in walmart. The fleece, thick hand towels, and they go on the coroplast - which can be wiped down with vinegar/water solution.
hello:) what sort of fleece do you use? becuase it doesn't look like the fleecey fleece(soft, fluffy kinda ones) if you know what i mean i dunno if the makes sence:L xxxx
@beckz383 I just go to the fabric department and either get fleece 'fabric remnants' or get it by the yard. It's on the 'bolts' of fleece. Hope that helps
Thanks for telling me about the vinegar solution it works soo good! And im getting 2 peruvians this weekend im so excited :) Can you maybe do a video on careing for a peruvian?
I'm in love with your Texel(: What's its name? I've got 4 Abbys and I've been wanting a texel or a teddy for sooo long but im not prepared to breed yet. (the only way i'd be able to own more guinea pigs is if i had a breeding business) I wonder what a texel bred with a teddy or a peruvian would look like... or a coronet...
@MsHorselover8 Definitely, that's what I use for ALL my animal clean ups. just remember 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. I bought a bottle of poop off or something like that at a pet store for my birds - the cage a long time ago. All I know is that my cockatiel was sitting on the bottom of the cage not looking so well. I nursed him back to health and will NEVER buy any pet store cleaner again.
@kiral1998 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water filling up a spray bottle. The lemon juice is great too - thanks - forgot about that. There's so much out there that doesn't cost that much for cleaning - guess we are just spoiled with all the 'pretty packaging' and EMPTY promises of how something will work great. Live and learn.
@jmhudak72 You get a spray bottle, fill it 1/2 way with water and 1/2 with WHITE VINEGAR. It's a good and safe disinfecting spray for all your small animals.
hey i lvoe your vid awesome cage! just wanted to say my pigs love paper rolls to! you should sleit them in half so they dont get stuck! cause they can :P also try stuffing them with hay! it makes a great toy!
how many times do you clean your cage? do you change the fleece & towels every week? you're guinea pig seem litter-train! i'm jealous! by the way, great organization.
@superxduperr Thanks, actually I just put down fleece and have the litter boxes. I shake the fleece out every day and turn it over--so that gives me 2 days for a piece of fleece before laudering.
For the most part, they use the litter boxes. You just have to have the 'kitchen' area in the litter boxes. They seem to do better that way. Thanks for the comment on organization - just got the idea from another user though - so can't take all the credit on that part.
To clear this up. Boar (male) guinea pigs will get on fine in pairs or even more. If they're introduced at a young age. It's tricky trying to bond older boars but it can be done. You don't even have to neuter if they're young when they are introduced. The easiest bonding i even done was 2 boars, both 5 weeks old. Boars will even have less fights than sows as when they come into season they often have little arguements etc
Cole..Two males are prone to fighting as they establish the dominant/submissive roles in their two piggy society. Neutering one or both will NOT prevent fights from happening if they are so inclined. An absolute no-no is adding a female to a cage with two or more boars neutered or not. Two males may be okay if they are from the same litter (ie. brothers) OR if one boar is older and the other very young. You may have the boar castrated and then add a female but the operation can be costly.
i have a guinea pig and i want anothecr, my mom says if i put more then 1 guinea in a cage they will fight! How do get them to stay calm with each other? PLZ write back (i love your guinea pigs!)
they are fine if they are 2 males or 2 females. If you've had the one for a while, you must disinfect (with vinegar/water solution) the cage and all the things in it, before introducing the new one.
That's what I did with Juliette and Phoebe. Phoebe was 2 years old when I got Juliette at 3 months. They didn't play right away, but got to like each other in time.
i think so there life expectancy is about 5 or 6 yrs but if u keep them healthy they will live longer, the longest guinea pig ever to live was 15 yrs old!
I had a guinea pig named Scooter a couple years ago and she used to make so much noise when I would ask her if she wanted a treat. They're such loving and amazing pets.
how much do the bar walls cost? are they made for pets or can i just take apart a shelf made out of the same stuff
