i just like the fluidity of the game, and how it looks. the bodies of players in 2k9 are sorta weird esp KG looking too big and some players being tooo skinny. but 2k gets the faces bettter and the gameplay is alot better

Nba 2k9 is much better because if you turn up the difficulty the players actually play like real people.The computer will block shots if you try to shoot right in their face, the computer can actually steal the ball if you are just bouncing the ball while standing straight up. The computer can play post up defense well. Love that game. This other kid said that live starts to cheat when you are up by alot. He said that your best players miss shots, and the computer starts making crazy shots.
By crazy shots I mean like the computer will be very far away from the three point line and they can still consistantly keep shooting it right in his face. I think that is true even though I only played Live 09 for about three months until I traded it in and got 2k9. BUY 2K9 IF YOU ARE STILL TRYING TO DECIDE. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
Not Really, If you are an average player you will still be able to win every time. I play on All-pro but if your not there yet, try practicing against the computer. Mostly by practicing shots, Isomotion, and then by finding offensive and defensive plays you want to use.

i've played both live and 2k9,both games got weaknesses. When it comes to presentation, and realism i'd go for 2k9, when it comes to gameplay features, and fun i go for live tho live's graphics are a bit up above 2k9 but the facial accuracies of the players 2k9's got it plus the player movements are really up to par with the real athletes...the movements in live are kinda mechanical, edgy...it doesn't have the kind of smoothness the 2k9's got it....
I just bought live 09 (for ps2) and am really dissapointed with the game play. Offensively i was able to take it to the basket for a layup EVERY single time i tried. Another bad thing is that the home court floor colours of the respective team havn't been updated. Have you also noticed that in this years edition, you can't make yuick sharp cuts with your man? in stead he's running arond in big curcles which really makes it hard to play defence..

I am a 2K guy, have been since the very first one. But if they're gonna be takin seriously about being a "sim" basketball game they need to fix alot of things. Such as the ridiculous dunking power of some guys, like Amare and Josh Smith who just seem to dunk over everybody. And some of the ridiculous looking shots and layups in the game. Plus guys like Chris Paul are so undervalued in the game just because he cant dunk from the FT line or shoot like Peja from 3. Quickness means nothing in 2K.
youre right about the quickness, on xbox live i was the hornets and a guy was shutting down chris paul with delonte west holding down the lock on D trig the whole time...
First of all you apparently never seen Amare play he can power dunk over ppl there are vids all over youtube to back that up and for Smith I haven't seen any game w/ the Hawks playing to definitively say he can power dunk over ppl but like Amare there are vids all over youtube that says he can.
Secondly, Yes I do feel that quickness is somewhat undervalued in 2K but guys like CP are not undervalued when used correctly. Hornets are one of 4 teams I tend to avoid others being Rockets, Suns and Jazz because of their PG's excluding Rockets though I do think Rafer is good pg but not on same level of Nash, Williams and CP.
If anything is undervalued its the strength of some of the smaller guys like Baron, if you watch him play irl you know it likes to post on smaller pg's(which almost every other pg's in the league) and occasionally some of the bigger and taller guys in the league but in 2K I get guys that I know can't stop Baron from posting on them irl to name a few like Parker,Barbosa, and Durant(yes thats right Durant) stopping Baron from posting.
First of all, apparently you've never played 2K8. Cause altho Amare and Smith are "good dunkers" as you put it, nobody gets 10 dunks a game like they do in 2K. Let alone in a 20 minute 4 quarter online game. And for the 2, maybe 3 dunks they do get in a real game most of them are wide open. If you think they get poster dunks every time they play then I guess you are the one who's never seen them play. That's why they are poster dunks, because they are rare.
Yes I have played 2K8 and yes I do believe wen you play online there are more dunks then there should be but it all depends on the user your playing against. 2K doesn't have this problem alone Live and Sony NBA has it as well. Again more dunks than irl game it all depends on user your playing against.

idk why ppl complain about gameplay being the same. . . .Why change it? It was good in 2k7 and in 2k8 which was about the same gameplay wise but added tweaks and polish when 2k7 went 2k8. You don't change something that works and 2K core gameplay works.
DNA is Live's attempt to steal one of 2K's original idea and put it under a different name. DNA is basically Team and Player tendencies which 2K has had since 2k6(Team tendencies 2k6 while Player added 2k7).

People shouldnt complain about the updates-I wish all sports games did this. In the NBAlineups are changed everyday/players are injured/trades are made/players sign 10-day contracts/etc. the rosters are so time consuming to fix. My only complaint would be that I don't understand why they brought back Steve Kerr for color-commentary again-(He's been the GM for the Phoenix Suns since last year).The NBA Academy looks good,I can't wait 2 try the different drills & all. I got 2k8 for the 1st time last year because live pissed me off-but after seeing this "dynamic dna" & roster updates/Nba rewind/etc. I'm absolutely going back 2 live this year. I've played the Live demo & seen NBA 2K9 gameplay-& 2k9 changed little to nothing. commentary is horrible-(scraping Kenny Smith for Clark Kellogg?) & gameplay looks exactly the same. Live has recieved a lil bit of an overhaul,& I'm back on board. By the way-Bill Walton was the perfect person to help present this game...:)
Cuz in the beginning 07-08 season Gasol was on the Grizzlies and this video is showing how Gasol from Grizzlies was PnR man then when he went to Lakers he went post man.
Live 09 demo was very good. I've said this so many times, and people are catching on, 2K has been the same game for 3 years. NBA Live is seemingly back to speed and I think it will rock. 08 was not perfect, but a good rebound from LIve 07. Can't wait for Oct. I think both games should be fun tho...
I've been playing 2K since the Dreamcast. I sat down the other day and played NBA 2k6 for the XBOX 360, the graphics of 2K6 actually look better than 2K8. The player models are better textured, and they don't look like amphibians. 2K is a great series. But I can honestly say, Its getting stale. 2K8 had minor updates from 2k7 and I've yet to see a 2K9 demo. They are being hush hush, and most times, that's not a good sign. Live 09 feels fresh and fun and I think it will be great. Live is back.
no not actually, 2K always releases stuff about their game rather late. 2nd your blind if you think 2k6 graphics are better than 2k7 or 2k8 thats just total bs anyone can see 2k7 and 2k8 graphics are better. 3rd is kinda hard to upgrade over 2k7 since 2k7 was huge leap from 2k6 i.e. its like asking Kobe to improve the next season . . . . OH and lastly don't go basing 2K from demo, demo 2k is always always bare bones of real game

2k8's player models are horrible. 2k7 might be the best next to 2k6 and 2k8, but I'm taking strictly player models here. I did play 2k6 recently, and yes, I do feel the player models look better than 2k8. Unless you have 2k6, you can't really say, but if you do, fork it out and you'll see it looks more polished. NBA Live 07 was horrible addmitted, but 08 was huge stepup and set the stairway for 09 being sweet, and I think that is exactly what is happening. Wait for reveiws, you'll see.
Didnt I just admit Live 08 was a huge step up from 07(though to be fair after Live 07 you cant get any worse so considering it from that POV would Live 08 really be considered a huge step?). I usually go to IGN and Gametrailers. I do subscribe to OXM and EGM. In the end, I really don't go by all the reviewers, but if the mass of them agree on that one game rocks, I will usually consider. I don't think Live will be better than 2K this year, but I think it will be finally competing with it. I just feel some people will want a change, that's all...Peace out...

Yup your are correct. NBA 2k8 graphics suck balls. The player models are worst than NBA2k6 or 7. And the gameplay is not as deep as expected. Live 08 looks graphically better and runs smoother. Thats why I said 2k better change something because if not Im getting Live 09.

It's too bad this video quality is so bad, becauase I can honestly say that Live 09 truly looks incredible. Yep. People need to get over the anger they had for Live 06 and 07, those days are gone. I haven't had so much fun with Live for years, and the Live 09 Demo was only a little taste. I love the feel, it's fresh, fun, and it's time to play Live again. I am a 2K guy, have been since the very first one. But if they're gonna be takin seriously about being a "sim" basketball game they need to fix alot of things. Such as the ridiculous dunking power of some guys, like Amare and Josh Smith who just seem to dunk over everybody. And some of the ridiculous looking shots and layups in the game. Plus guys like Chris Paul are so undervalued in the game just because he cant dunk from the FT line or shoot like Peja from 3. Quickness means nothing in 2K.

First of all you apparently never seen Amare play he can power dunk over ppl there are vids all over youtube to back that up and for Smith I haven't seen any game w/ the Hawks playing to definitively say he can power dunk over ppl but like Amare there are vids all over youtube that says he can.

Secondly, Yes I do feel that quickness is somewhat undervalued in 2K but guys like CP are not undervalued when used correctly. Hornets are one of 4 teams I tend to avoid others being Rockets, Suns and Jazz because of their PG's excluding Rockets though I do think Rafer is good pg but not on same level of Nash, Williams and CP.

If anything is undervalued its the strength of some of the smaller guys like Baron, if you watch him play irl you know it likes to post on smaller pg's(which almost every other pg's in the league) and occasionally some of the bigger and taller guys in the league but in 2K I get guys that I know can't stop Baron from posting on them irl to name a few like Parker,Barbosa, and Durant(yes thats right Durant) stopping Baron from posting.

First of all, apparently you've never played 2K8. Cause altho Amare and Smith are "good dunkers" as you put it, nobody gets 10 dunks a game like they do in 2K. Let alone in a 20 minute 4 quarter online game. And for the 2, maybe 3 dunks they do get in a real game most of them are wide open. If you think they get poster dunks every time they play then I guess you are the one who's never seen them play. That's why they are poster dunks, because they are rare.

Yes I have played 2K8 and yes I do believe wen you play online there are more dunks then there should be but it all depends on the user your playing against. 2K doesn't have this problem alone Live and Sony NBA has it as well. Again more dunks than irl game it all depends on user your playing against.

idk why ppl complain about gameplay being the same. . . .Why change it? It was good in 2k7 and in 2k8 which was about the same gameplay wise but added tweaks and polish when 2k7 went 2k8. You don't change something that works and 2K core gameplay works.

DNA is Live's attempt to steal one of 2K's original idea and put it under a different name. DNA is basically Team and Player tendencies which 2K has had since 2k6(Team tendencies 2k6 while Player added 2k7).
It's not picking your poison its picking between POISON(Live) and THE REMEDY(2K)

Okay just to clarify ppl out of the loop. Dynamic DNA is BASICALLY team and player tendencies which 2K already has since 2k6. I'm posting this tidbit cuz I'm sick and tired of hearing ppl going on about DNA as if it's something new and original that Live has brought to the table. WRONG! Its just team and player tendencies under another name. Also I don't think Live has had an "original" idea in recent memory though the superstar stuff from Live 07 was one,whatever happened to that. . ?(scrapped)

People shouldnt complain about the updates-I wish all sports games did this. In the NBAlineups are changed everyday/players are injured/trades are made/players sign 10-day contracts/etc. the rosters are so time consuming to fix. My only complaint would be that I don't understand why they brought back Steve Kerr for color-commentary again-(He's been the GM for the Phoenix Suns since last year).The NBA Academy looks good,I can't wait 2 try the different drills & all. Welcome back NBA Live!

I got 2k8 for the 1st time last year because live pissed me off-but after seeing this "dynamic dna" & roster updates/Nba rewind/etc. I'm absolutely going back 2 live this year. I've played the Live demo & seen NBA 2K9 gameplay-& 2k9 changed little to nothing. commentary is horrible-(scraping Kenny Smith for Clark Kellogg?) & gameplay looks exactly the same. Live has recieved a lil bit of an overhaul,& I'm back on board. By the way-Bill Walton was the perfect person to help present this game...:)

Live 09 demo was very good. I've said this so many times, and people are catching on, 2K has been the same game for 3 years. NBA Live is seemingly back to speed and I think it will rock. 08 was not perfect, but a good rebound from LIve 07. Can't wait for Oct. I think both games should be fun tho...

I've been playing 2K since the Dreamcast. I sat down the other day and played NBA 2k6 for the XBOX 360, the graphics of 2K6 actually look better than 2K8. The player models are better textured, and they don't look like amphibians. 2K is a great series. But I can honestly say, Its getting stale. 2K8 had minor updates from 2k7 and I've yet to see a 2K9 demo. They are being hush hush, and most times, that's not a good sign. Live 09 feels fresh and fun and I think it will be great. Live is back.

no not actually, 2K always releases stuff about their game rather late. 2nd your blind if you think 2k6 graphics are better than 2k7 or 2k8 thats just total bs anyone can see 2k7 and 2k8 graphics are better. 3rd is kinda hard to upgrade over 2k7 since 2k7 was huge leap from 2k6 i.e. its like asking Kobe to improve the next season . . . . OH and lastly don't go basing 2K from demo, demo 2k is always always bare bones of real game

2k8's player models are horrible. 2k7 might be the best next to 2k6 and 2k8, but I'm taking strictly player models here. I did play 2k6 recently, and yes, I do feel the player models look better than 2k8. Unless you have 2k6, you can't really say, but if you do, fork it out and you'll see it looks more polished. NBA Live 07 was horrible addmitted, but 08 was huge stepup and set the stairway for 09 being sweet, and I think that is exactly what is happening. Wait for reveiws, you'll see.

Didnt I just admit Live 08 was a huge step up from 07(though to be fair after Live 07 you cant get any worse so considering it from that POV would Live 08 really be considered a huge step?). Moreover I do have 2k6 and more than anything 2k8 has better player models than 2k6. And your saying when the reviews come out for 2K and Live, Live will have better reviews? Just out of curiosity which sites do you go and check reviews?

I usually go to IGN and Gametrailers. I do subscribe to OXM and EGM. In the end, I really don't go by all the reviewers, but if the mass of them agree on that one game rocks, I will usually consider. I don't think Live will be better than 2K this year, but I think it will be finally competing with it. I just feel some people will want a change, that's all...Peace out...

Yup your are correct. NBA 2k8 graphics suck balls. The player models are worst than NBA2k6 or 7. And the gameplay is not as deep as expected. Live 08 looks graphically better and runs smoother. Thats why I said 2k better change something because if not Im getting Live 09.

It's too bad this video quality is so bad, becauase I can honestly say that Live 09 truly looks incredible. Yep. People need to get over the anger they had for Live 06 and 07, those days are gone. I haven't had so much fun with Live for years, and the Live 09 Demo was only a little taste. I love the feel, it's fresh, fun, and it's time to play Live again. If the lot of you haven't had a chance to play the demo, do yourself a favor, and get a hold of it now. It rocks.
