This video is very cool! I been flying Delta kites for over 10 years I've never tried a Rev kite but have always wanted to try. Did someone comment on this guy doing axels with this kite? It seemed impossible with the quad lines? well! I'm sold - can anyone suggest a good starter Rev that's not too expensive.
i started with an EXP i ordered on chicagokites(dot)com...I know that many people have started on a john baressi (B-series). you should go on rev's website and look at what they have and poke around on the forum there. I know im not happy with my decision to go the cheap path, reason being that after a few months of flying the EXP, i bought a 20th anniversery kite i was looking at all year, so really its all personal preference and budget limited. look around on the forums for help and opinions
Go fly a kite!!! hah... Get a 4 line kite and practice everyday with it. It'll be fun, but you'll find you can do stunts that nobody else can do because it's your own style (like a painting)... If you're willing to put time into it. 4 lines are such a pain in the A** putting it together and rolling them back up, but flying it for a few hours makes set up & break down well worth it. ...As far as "fake", all I have to say is... "GO FLY A KITE!!!".
@Kitelife: That's kind of in poor taste, isn't it? I'm aware that you have won like 12097101397 competitions for this sort of thing, and that iQuad is indeed very technically impressive and precise with its routines. But this guy's flying seems at least as competent as yours, just stylistically very different. Faster, more tricks, spins, etc, and less slooooooooooow pattern flying, hovering, and clock turns. Just because it's different from how you like to fly doesn't mean it's somehow inferior.
I wasn't trying to slam his flying, although it looks like that to me now, re-reading my previous comment... My response (at the time) was purely with regard to the term "world class", which I associate with competition, which in turn requires an additional range of components to consistently place in the top three (**stuff this guy can probably do - but wasn't included in the video**).
The video appears to be gone now (too bad), but I do seem to recall *enjoying* what I saw on the whole.
I think I was stuck up on axels when I made my first comment (honestly)... Having a better understanding of what's involved now, I'll give it all a thumbs up. :)
My guess is that that kite in this vid is tweaked for that style of flying... Watching him move, my guess is that he could do well and utilize any style of Rev to do what he wants.
Yeah, there's so much spin or inertia or whatever when he axels; I wonder if he's using that dreaded SLE?
Thanks for clarifying your earlier comment btw; you remain classy in my book, for whatever it's worth (which probably ain't much, considering that I'm just another random youtube commenter).
It's a Revolution 4 line kite. I'm not sure, but I don't think they sell them anymore. There's newer 4 liners that will give you the same maneuverability.
Yeah, they are pricey... Check out some of the smaller 4 liners, they're fast and have radical new designs (I looked a couple months ago and they were about $250 US). This one is a Rev I which has a nice pull, but the II has awsome speed and maneuverabilty. If I have a few hundy sitting around, I might get one. ;-)
Ese video es mio , en mi sitio youtube lo tengo completo

If you fly a Rev you know this guy is amazing. This is world class flying.
gblan 4 years ago
Not bad, but he flies pretty heavy on the top lines... Tons of inertia and a bit of over steer.
Want world class flying?
Do a YouTube search for iQuad. :)
