I'm English, and we're very particular about accents. We laugh like crazy at Mel Gibson playing William Wallace and, the best example ever, Dick van Dyke playing a 'so-called' cockney. Seemed to me that Russell Crowe walked out because of the question about not wanting to say the line in Gladiator. He may have been more worked up because of the accent question, but I think he was just fed up with the picky questions. Everyone says he's so hotheaded...but really, he just stands up for what he think is right. He may make some mistakes, but he takes his acting seriously and only acts in movies that he thinks will move the audience.
Put yourself in Crowe's shoes, he takes his acting very seriously and as an actor his emotions are obviously very close to the surface, I'm sure he reads articles everyday about how his acting sucks and when he is sitting face to face with a guy who is basically saying the accent he used is nothing like the character should sound like its no surprise to me he takes offense.

It was a bad movie anyway! I mean it don't even have "Robin Hood" in it until the end when the kig declairs him an outlaw. Hell, he almost never fires an arrow, and Maid Marrion in full battle gear fighting an invading FRENCH army?! WTF?! It shouldn't have been called "Robin Hood". Sure Robin Hood wasn't a real person, but that have made it easier to write a good script, but they remade "Braveheart" with everyone yelling "FREEDOM" eventhough they had no concept of it's meaning!

I don't think Russell puts himself on a pedestal at all, and he's definitely not a douche. He is just very passionate about his work and puts his heart and soul into every role he plays, if he didn't give a toss about his work then he wouldn't of gotten upset so easily. More movies are made in India every year than in all the other countries of Earth combined (including the States).
Many U.S. citizens are very insular, bigoted and self-aggrandizing, so it's understandable that you'd make those wrong assumptions.

Now, someone walks into your shop, where you do your best to deliver a quality service, and offers you some snooty remark like, "This clip isn't quite exactly how I imagined it in my head.." Is it ok to get upset? Look, there's two things here. 1) Don't be so thin skinned. 2) Don't expect actors to be completely passive all the time JUST because they're actors. Seemed to me that Russell Crowe walked out because of the question about not wanting to say the line in Gladiator. He may have been more worked up because of the accent question, but I think he was just fed up with the picky questions. Everyone says he's so hotheaded...but really, he just stands up for what he think is right. He may make some mistakes, but he takes his acting seriously and only acts in movies that he thinks will move the audience.

Put yourself in Crowe's shoes, he takes his acting very seriously and as an actor his emotions are obviously very close to the surface, I'm sure he reads articles everyday about how his acting sucks and when he is sitting face to face with a guy who is basically saying the accent he used is nothing like the character should sound like its no surprise to me he takes offense.
