@NewSouthSideslasher Thats the problem....the men are DO want families are deemed, "boring," "old-fashioined," etc. Black women can't complain about the lack of "decent" men until they start making better choices in men.

this generation is not "endangered"..does your "propsed solution" extend to ALL american families race notwithstanding? the divorce rate among all americans is higher than 50% should we believe that those fathers are in their childs lives? It seems to me that this idea lends credence to the false notion that black men on a whole are not responsible, as other fathers of divorce white and otherwise are. this is simply not true. birth control only for black women? racism under the guise of concern

I actually proposed solutions similar to those on my blog. Its insanity that anyone can have a child, but you have to be 21 to drink, 18 to join the military/get married, 16/17 to be licensed to drive. I think anyone under the age of 18 (preferrably 21) who doesn't have at least a high school education and/or basic life skills training should have their kids taken by the state until they complete such requirements. You wouldnt believe what I see as an GED teacher.

The effects of the high rate of absent black fathers within the African-American community speaks for itself...high dropout rates, high crime rates among black male youth, social and political apathy, etc. It forces black women to step in and do what they can to save this endangered generation.
