I have 61 degree curve. Im really self consious so I always have to wear a sweater or a jacket. I wear a 23hr brace, so yeah. My friends call me a bulky box girl... How nice..

hey dont worry about the surgery... it'll be fine. i had the same surgery on may 20th. i recovered in less than 2 weeks. i was diagnosed with scoliosis in january and the degree was 65 degrees.... but for all people that need surgery dont even worry about it....

i know how that feels. i always have to wear those loose fitted clothes so no one will notice my awfully shaped body, but during our JS prom everybody shared at me! i can't find a gown that would cover the hump and the curvature, so i wore the fit one and i was being stared at and laughed at. i feel like crying evrytime i remember that.

heyy; I was just thinking about it and decided to check out youtube and see if there was anything about scoliosis on here- and there was :] I have it, and dont like it. and the schools always had a 'screening' to see if kids had it- never caught it so finally I was like well you should reconsider the people 'screening' b/c I do have it & you didnt catch it. I had surgery, thank god i did. It was the right time. I was starting to get lung problems. My back hurt so much, i couldn't walk, even massages didn't help.
If you get surgery, always remember that there something better in the future. Each year i get taller and get flatter on my back.

I have scoliosis too, but its not a major curve. Sometimes I get pretty bad pain in my lower back, but I go to a chiropractor and it helps a lot. I know people can feel really deformed and self conscious about their appearance, but I don't think a lot of people really notice that kind of stuff. Don't feel too bad about yourself because there are a lot worse things you could be going through. (thats how I look at it.)

I had spinal fusion in '01. My surgeon kicked ass and now my curves have stopped increasing. Scoliosis really is tough and does so much to the mind as well. I think I speak for all w/ scoliosis that our body image is very warped. You are a beauty though and have nothing to worry about. Look at somebody who's spinal condition stops them from walking or living properly and realize that our superficial curves are minor compaired to what other people must face. I thank you for posting this.
totally understand where you are coming. I had a year of depression from my brace which is differnt then everyones i have seen. I can show a picture of what it did look like. Thankfully it is gone i had it in 7th and 8th. I dont have the rib cage problem you have i do have a "hunch" though and my spine is pretty visiable in its curve... how bad is it are you considering surgery?

Im male so i can kinda hide it pretty well but paranoia can be tremendus no matter how baggy they are! And can be hard in summer! You look great by the way. Very pretty. All the best
I don't know how much help I can be, as I also hide in my clothes. I have a 68° curve near the top of my spine. It's set with surgery now, but my scapula still sticks out something fierce. I'm just getting into tighter clothes, and I usually layer them.
But, in all honesty, if you hadn't said anything I don't think I would have noticed. You look great. And it's in a "good" spot, so it's not too obvious. I hope you start feeling better, and I totally have to start checking out more of your videos ^-^

i have a 28 degree curve && i have a brace
im on my second brace now because i grew so much. i'm 5'7!
my treatment is ending in december so i wont be needing surgery
i do find buying clothes hard because one of my shoulders is higher than the other.
it takes me awhile to find clothes that fit right. I always go with loose clothing and dresses.

I use to always say the samething when i was little. I had to wear a plastic brace though and it was hard.
I learned how to deal with it, but some days i feel like "Why can't be normal"? But god has a plan for us. =D

I had the op 8th Feb 2007.
I am SOOOOOO glad I had it done.

I went to the theme park for the 1st time after my op on saturday! No pain!
