@olliephelan yes it is a poem written by Mallick. I know the words--ive committed them to memory. I just wanted to hear it (the final poem of the entire movie) and I cant believe this compliation didnt include one of the best.
@rader55555 .Its essential to learn about ZEN for this.
ZEN is the common denominator to all religious esoterics.
Zen leaves out all the religious crap and gets straight to the point .
He chose the PACIFIC to show japanese zen philosophy at its best .
The whole film centres around WITT achieving the "same calm" that his mother had at death "because thats where its hidden ; the immortality I hadnt seen " "ALL THINGS shining" , rather than "all things SHINING"
@bungcisco ..well , it does illustrate LITERALLY a "spiritual awakening " .
Witt experiences an epiphany or state of mind which zen buddhists call "KENSHO" , which means a temporary glimpse into the true nature or essence of reality in which there are no opposites , therefore a profound sense of peace .
Thats what he means when he tells welsh hes "seen another world ".
It allows him to make the ultimate sacrifice for his company and die with acceptance (just like his mother did)
nature is impartial!

This is not so much a movie as it is a lyric a verse set to music, a spiritual awakening.
