I was in Japan many years ago performing and learned some JSL. It is not derived from European signed languages and has many signs that represent the characters. it was fascinating and i wish i had the chance to learn it again!
Many modern sign languages are descended from FSL, including ASL and JSL, so they often have similar or identical "words"/signs though grammar and syntax have diverged as well as finger spelling is localized to the region's verbal language.
i used to take ASL, but my skills have gotten rusty. i don't know JSL, but some signs looked familiar, though they might not mean the same thing. either way, i think it's such a beautiful language!

I have friend one deaf man from texas. He taught me some of jsl. Im very interesting this is jsl.
