I would assume that they were tired. Remember, Peter and Ace had only been playing clubs up until this time. Gene and Paul played a limited amount of shows with the unmasked Kiss. They had only been doing acoustic shows up until the full blown tour. I know the Rock 'N' Roll All Nite performance at the end of this show is where you can hear the signs of them being tired. Gene's voice is very raspy. Peter later in the tour needed braces for his wrists. Simply, they weren't in their 20s anymore.
I don't disagree that this version really rocks, I just happen to like the San Fran 75 version a little better. No effects, just pure raw energy back when they were really young and hungry and in much better physical shape. The clip is in black and white and you can just feel the energy in it. I also like the choreography better with Paul and Gene while Ace does his solo and then joins them at the end. Anyways, just a personal preference, they are both great, I just like 75 a little better

This was a short show... only 5 songs, so Kiss put all their energy... look at Peter, he played like a 25 years old drummer.

Probably one of the best Deuce lives there is. Band sounds so tight, has great and energetic feeling. Just great stuff!
