Just as I saw the Brenen painting. I too immediately thought of David Reed. But his work has definitely got a new breed going with it in bringing the stripes into the painting also.
Thanks James for this. I really enjoy watching your videos and learning about new painters I would have had to wait a much longer time to hear about any other way.
Wow....thanks mr. kalm, you are the best. i liked the Ryman machine by Simon(?) and you talked to him! nice! Roxy Paine comes to mind and Jean Tinguley. The think tank is a great and inspiring idea. Kudos to Phong Bui for the PS1 gig, good for him! The German six dimensional hyper-cube is a tv with an abstraction on it, that's it, nothing more. thanks and thanks and thanks mr. kalm:)
The painting machine and electronic tools seem to be the ideal medium for reductive (minimal) art. The Minus Space think tank personality appeals to me. And although my work is maxi to their mini I applaud their investigations. I'm on their mailing list. Their greatest risk is boredom. Ironic that the painting machine produces the least robotic product. Thanks James! Best-
I liked the boiler room and the boiler itself behind Tilman. After watching the rotating hypercube in six (6) dimensions, the random walk painting machine, and the discussion of heavily intellectual inclusive reductivist abstraction, the old acid reflux flared and Prilosec was needed to save the moment. I did like the mountains of boom boxes and the crowd. I just don't think that the artists delivered the goods. Thanks, thanks, thanks.
I just checked out their website and the piece at 6:16 (which I really like) is by Douglas Melini and is called "Endlessly". I also like the super shiny piece at 1:42 by Li Trincere.
Anyway, thanks for keeping us informed James. It's cool seeing famous folks (well famous art world folks at least) like Jerry Saltz and Peter Schjeldahl show up in videos.
thank you very much for this I wish I got to NY and PS1 more often, Loved the New Zealand Artist Simon from my home country

To the painting machine: "We can't bring him down a little vodka to get hom loosened up after a while?" haha. Great video.
