I think it's very important to remember that there's always people out there that are better or that know more. In my case, I'm fortunate to have a lot of people around me that are top-knotch guys. I thought they should get some credit as well.
These recent videos were filmed at GFC Martial Arts in Loganville, Georgia. I strongly suggest anyone in the area check them out.
"Advertising?" I certainly still claim that I have a black belt in jiu-jitsu. But not BRAZILIAN Jiu-Jitsu (which is the "B" in BJJ"- and which was specified in his question).
Good to hear from you, hope everything is going well.
From what i seen on the content i downloaded in your store... i was shure you are a BJJ black belt. Your teaching skills and overall game is fking amazing! I seriously learned alut. That is the proof to anyone that this is not the belt that matter but what you know and what you can do with it. For some BJJ teachers, belts represent the level of your game and for others that only mean you learned the moves required and can do it all in front of the teacher in a drill and simulation mode.
@civicturbolive Thanks for your kind words. Most everyone that I train with has always been top level competitors in whatever aspect of the sport they were involved in. It's not that "I'm just that good".... but rather the key is surrounding yourself with people that make you better. Maajid is an awesome BJJ practitioner, and so his game forces mine to get better.
@TechniquePrevails civicturbolive said much of my own thoughts regarding the compliments I wanted to toss you and Maajid. You guys are utterly amazing, with real techniques that are translatable to any martial artist,if they genuinely want to diversify their game.I've seen this sprawl option with wrestlers but not with the attention to detail and step by step break down and most importantly not with the drill shown to develop skill in execution.Thanx mayne!
@badboyzm5 I don't train BJJ in the sense of the gi and the BJJ lineage. My background is solely submission grappling/MMA. Maajid is a black belt in BJJ under Romero Jacare Cavalcanti.
Thanks for watching! Please check out the site- we already have next week's free Technique of the Week posted there!
Also, if anyone is interested in Maajid's credentials- you can see him get his BJJ black belt from Jacare Cavalcanti in Atlanta at the video id below. You'll also notice Marcelo Garcia and some other BJJ studs there!
Seriously, "mat finishes" is the most under-taught area of grappling, imho. Good to see some focus on them.

Looks like you could set that right up into the d'arce/anaconda depending on were you end up...
TheScamr 1 year ago
@TheScamr You certainly can. Remember- position before submission, but if you end up there; you can certainly chain them together.
