Mountain biking: Womble Trail, Mauldin Mountain Descent and Crashes

On this year's Ouachita Challenge 60 mile race, I hit that same tree at 5:05 in the video. My bars are so wide that I only had about 1/4" clearance. I was going about 20 mph and hit my right bar. It threw me off the bike and knocked my shoulder out of socket for a quick moment. I finished the race, but that shoulder has bothered for 6 months now. I just rode there again this weekend and took note of those trees. I think I'll chop my bars down.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. Super tight trees in a straight fast section of trail. I've cut 3/4's inch off each side of my bars and love the results.

It's about 45 minutes west of Hot Springs. The nearest town is Mt Ida. The Womble trail is the best maintained trail I know of. Its like a mountain biking autobahn. 37 miles of trail that is 98% ridable for the average rider. All that beauty with very few technical challenges. The trail even holds up during the rainy season. It's a joy to ride for all skill levels.
