One way to protect yourself from sudden price hikes is to fill up your tank everyday even if you only use 1/2 gallon and charge it to your credit card. This way, you are only paying your daily consumption and you are not forced to pay the hike on a full tank of gas. Also, gas companies & credit cards have to spend more just to deal with small transactions.

One if they have to spend more they will just charge more, and second gas sometimes will drop between fill ups.

America consumes 21million barrels of crude per day. That's over 3 times the amount of the next largest consumer which is China. If any country should have high prices it's America because they haven't yet learned that oil is a natural resource and needs to be used with respect. I'm not anti American but I've visited the states and seen the size of the cars the people drive there. It's quite obvious that something needs to change

Force the gas companies to lower prices. Refuse to buy gas from 1 company at a time! Everyone who reads this, do not buy fuel from Arco/AMPM/BP until they bring their prices down. If you do this, & tell your friends/family to do the same, they will have no choice. I am not singling out this supplier, but they do not offer as many reward programs, so more Ameriicans will go along. We can force the oil mafia in this country to stop gouging. The first company, as I said, must be the BP group, which is ARCO/AMPM. We must work together to stop being raped by the oil companies.
