stone cold awsome, turned on to this axe by joe bonomassa choosing him as big influence, I am prostrate to the freakin artist's spirit....what a master of sound, technique...I saw him when I was 14 , 40 years ago...had no idea the greatness I was watching , i was too stoned. Now I'm stoned on his sound....wow
@cutis1000 are you fucking kidding me? of course it was from heroin you ball bag. you are probably an addict yourself right? you dont want to admit that heroin is bad for you of course. and i have done my researsh, so fuck you, you fucking cunt junkie
Great track, thanks for this posting and part two. Koss could put more feeling into one track than many players could manage in a lifetime. Peerless!!!!
@geshtasb 'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religous toleration to offer them an asylum.' John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.A
@geshtasb Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
Just to clarify the previous point, Paul would often play his guitar via a LESLIE SPEAKER(and this is the guitar effect you are hearing on this track), more commonly used with Hammond organs.
I remember being fascinated by Koss' guitar sound in the other part of this jam (part 2)on his solo album. His friend John "Rabbit" Bundrick (keys with Free) used Leslie speakers with his Hammond C3. During their days in Kossoff, Kirke, Tetsu & Rabbit, Paul would often play Leslie(part of the solo "I'm on the run" on KKTR).It was Rabbit who was resposible for Koss' introduction and subsequent passion for this effect,it's quite beautiful - but needs a player like Koss to reveal it's true beauty.
Free - Songs of Yesterday (2000). Only official release of this song (full 18 mins). Box set of 5 CD's. Still available online.
Set also includes a great live CD, 8 tracks. If your a Skynrd or ACDC fan you'll love it! Free's heaviest ever version of Mr. Big and The Stealer. Both 1st released on the box set.

@Ukabumba Drug related problems, not necessarily from heroin. Do your research before your name call.

@Ukabumba Koss died from a blood clot while he was in an airplane bathroom. He had seizures and clotting resulting from his excessive mandrax abuse.
