"When there's no morning Without you" This doesn't make sense to me. He's saying he's sad there is a morning with a person since its a double negative. " When there's no morning with you" make sense or am I missing something?
I have listened to this song many many times and it still can send chills down my spine- thanks brian/scott and the rest of the Band.I was lucky to have seen them do this whole cd live-Awesome!
Thank God one of our rock icons survived ... we are still able to hear Brian's brilliance through song. (RIP Lennon, Harrison, Joplin, Morrison, & Hendrix ... we'll never know what could have been).
Oh my God the lipsynch nazis are here as well, to them EVERYTHING is lipsynched in an attempt to show their "superior knowledge". problem is they are wrong about 90% of the time. but hey that 10% has to count for something right? Errrrrrppttt wrong again
Beautiful on so many levels. Love the Beach Boys-esque ending Brian added to the live version. That vocalist at the end would have been Carl 20 years ago.
Here's Brian, warts and all and unadorned by autotune, performing Midnight's Another Day - simply the best song he has written 20+ years. The best band on earth and doesn't Taylor Mills look lovely in blue?
Maybe he's singing live over a backing track, effectively double tracking vocals live? You can definitely tell the background singers are singing live.
I guess he could have used auto-tune like all the crap singers on the radio THESE days. I'll take an old man from the 60's ANY day of the week over the Britney Gag a Beiber Jonas cRAPoholics who have the NERVE to compare themselves to the BB's or the Beatles. They wouldn't make a drop of Clearasil on the lower buttock of Brian Wilson.
YeuGlover, Your anger is juvenile. I've been a huge fan of Brian Wilson's for some 40 years. He is still awesome, albeit I suspect he gets assistance. I found the review to be humorous so I copied what would fit. The beginning and end are missing. You should listen to "'Til I Die" or "All This Is That" until your anger passes. If you are Catholic I apologize, but Brian would be the first Pope I could relate to, and who I would make a pilgrimage to see. Sorry if I exacerbated your turettes.
@adolfgoldstein since Brian's religous back ground is Presbyterian I doubt he would be interested in being a Pope, more likely to be grand master in a lodge

It reminded me of the sing alongs at the senior center only they don't usually let the most senile person in the room lead the sing alongs. Here's Brian sitting at a keyboard, not really playing, and singing off a teleprompter. He may even have been "ad-libbing" between songs from the teleprompter too, it was hard to tell.
@adolfgoldstein "It reminded me of the sing alongs at the senior center only they don't usually let the most senile person in the room lead the sing alongs."
And that's where you got your big break into music!! ~~ROTFLMAO~~
PS--please strangle yourself asap. Do it for the children!
He is either completely gone or just has a very off and awkward sense of humor. "Thank you for choosing Brian Wilson for your concert tonight." or "This next song I hate, but we're gonna do it anyway". While Brian is singing he makes bizarre hand gestures like he's part of the ground crew trying to land an airplane. I loved every minute of it. I'm sure Brian has written more hit songs than anyone. Maybe Paul McCartney has more. But Paul McCartney can not bring you to tears.
Surf, sun, fast cars, fast girls, fun, fun, fun...and then sing Surf's Up or Midnight's Another Day and it just rips your heart out. When he bares his soul it touches yours. There is a spirituality in Brian's music that runs deeper and wider than any gospel or Christian music I've ever heard. Brian is the Pope of Rock and Roll. He should set up a chair in L.A. so people can make pilgrimages to see him and kiss his rings and leave an offering at his feet. It would be more lucrative than touring

Brian did manage to get his geriatric audience on their feet for the last few songs. I'm sure their were several sore backs and a few hip and knee replacements the next day. I'm also sure these people thought it was worth it. Brian closes his shows with Love and Mercy. "Love and mercy to you and your friends tonight". Fitting for the Pope to finish with a benediction.
@adolfgoldstein You really shouldn't start the day with a mouthful of your own shit, thinking it nourishment. It could go to your head, and then you you might wind up a total shithead!!
ohh please dont discriminate, this man was so friggin talented and had to fight depression that was so strong he couldnt get out of bed!. he wrote for so many performers and had such a talent for writing, it was a horrible shame that mike love pulled the plug on this he shouldve been slapped!

No. You all are fooled. This is a plain song with a ton of production and an old man singing it. "Genius" Brian benefits from you all's adoration of him when the truth is that drugs ruined his prime just like Sly Stone. Not even a zillions fans can wash that clean. Whew! Y'all enjoy.....I'm hitting the BACK Button> -Later.
Hey grxengine, you missed it completely. He's singing about a 40 year struggle with mental illness / bi-polar disorder. Using drugs in the sixties didn't help him of course, but please don't compare him to Sly Stone. It's a small miracle that Brian is able to write music this moving anymore.
You can't seriously be putting Sly Stone anywhere near Brian. As for production on this song ...sure it's well-arranged and produced, but so what ? You could take a classic song from a totally different era, like "Over the Rainbow", and call it a plain, simple song. There asre so many current songs out now where they sound more like a race to see how many triplets the singer can fit into a second really turn me off. .
Agreed. This is the best song on the new album, closest in musical invention and feeling to his earlier stuff. I hear it as a companion piece to "Til I Die." And you're right to compare Pet Sounds with Abbey Road, not Sgt. Pepper as many people like to do. For my taste, Abbey Road is a better album than Sgt. Pepper, and Pet Sounds is an equilvalent masterpiece.
Buy it... I did! The whole DVD is out now. I'm guessing the vocals were touched up a little bit afterwards, but I don't find it even a little distracting... It's definitely a live performance video.

@Muskogeeify the lyric is: When there's no morning without 'u'. It's a play on words that fits the song... mourning/morning.

Oxymoron live/studio, take it for what it is, I've seen Bri live a ton throughout the 2000's and he definately sings live.
And please most of you probably can't even play an instrument let alone write a decent song, so enough about ohh he's lip synching.
